Tim Johnson

A little birdie told me TJ was spotted having dinner with Bob Ritchie in a restaurant near Greenville. I wish we had had an opportunity for TJ. I don't like the idea of him in purple.

It's interesting that there has become some Wofford/Furman cross pollination in basketball. As fans we get all worked up about it, but in reality the similarities make it natural that coaches would be good fits at both. Tim will be a part of Wofford again somewhere down the line.

there is an opening at Furman still (because we poached their big guy coach). as weird as it would be, it's also weird to think we have two guys on staff including a HC that were employed at Furman in recent years.

I believe he wants to make his way back to Wofford eventually and this is the first step.

It's Official: Tim's Twitter account (May 14) shows that he is, in fact, Assistant Basketball Coach at Furples. Oh my...

Im going to be in the minority here, but good for him. He wanted to be back in the upstate. While this means we likely may have been able to have him back around wofford, perhaps not. Jay seems confident in his choices and I support him. I wont pull for Furman against wofford obviously, but id likely prefer they beat etsu or uncg

If this is a positive career and/or family move for Johnson then I am happy for him. Obviously, I am not a Furman fan, but they do have a strong program. That being said, it never brings a tear to my eye when they lose.

I have always been a fan of Tim’s and think this is a smart hire for Furman.

I think we should all consider Tim a leader in our Hall of Fame and a true Terrier. I didn't consider it an affront to Wofford when he went to Wyoming or James Madison and the same goes for Furman. Furman is a rival for lots of reasons, but I admire their University as well as student athletes and coaches, because we know what they stand for and have to do to compete. Welcome back to the area, Tim. When we play your team we will try to beat you, and afterward we will give you a big hug!

I reiterate and guarantee:

Tim will apply to the next Wofford job that opens up.

I love Jay, but if we win a couple socon championships within the next 5-7 years (or just compete for a few and turn some heads) he'll probably be gone. Tim probably knows that and will position himself accordingly.

Congrats to Tim and his wife on their newest child, expected this Winter. my guess is likely one of the main reasons he wanted to move back closer to Upstate, even if it did mean that ugly Purple color. crazy things we do for our kids...
