Most of the speculation is mitigated if Wofford finds the money to properly compensate Coach Young and his staff. If our athletic department can't/won't do that then there will likely be attrition. With the increased exposure and money coming in from this run, it is time to redouble the marketing and fundraising efforts and make a significant commitment to the ongoing success of this program. We shall see what happens.

I definitely agree with Boulder re: marketing the heck out of Wofford basketball/pushing season ticket holders to lock-up tickets for next year. It’s a little difficult with the non-conference schedule not finalized yet but Wofford is the hot ticket in town and ensuring we have fans in the stands both continues to generate revenue for the athletic program and helps us maintain a strong home court advantage.

I think opening with UNC really helped us this season. It would help to open the home schedule against a strong opponent again, like Clemson, Wake Forest, Georgia, or maybe even Davidson (provided we could get any of these folks to come to Wofford- they’re probably too scared to). But we should do the best we can to open with a solid opponent that people know...and not someone like Tooter Town School of Bartending.

I could've sworn that in one of his post-season pressers he said we were going to Duke next year. Not sure if it's the opening game or not

In addition to Duke, also heard over the weekend that we were slated to play at UNC and Harvard. If so, WOW - no letting up in our OOC scheduling!

It stands to reason that we owe UNC a visit, if the deal was a 2 for 1. Not sure where we stand with GA Tech. I doubt Wake Forest, in their situation, wants any part of us. I also think that MY wants to play at all the great venues, and he has The Palestra in Philly and Pauley's Pavilion left to go. He's played all the NC Big 4 at their places, including NC St in Reynolds Coliseum. MY, being a Virginia boy, probably would like to play at Virginia. It seems to me we may have played at VPI. Then there are a number of other Virginia schools like Radford, Longwood, W&M, etc. I wouldn't mind us playing in the DC area against Georgetown, George Mason and others. A little coordination with Brande Stille as to where we need to spread the Wofford name might be in order. The ultimate trip is to Madison Square Garden, and maybe we could wrangle a tournament or some kind of event there. Wouldn't you love to see those cynical NY sportswriters try to tell the story of Wofford College?

All these great out of conference road games are nice. But again, we also need to find some good OOC teams to play us at home so we can get fans in the seats at the Jerry! I know many teams want no part of coming to Spartanburg because they still see us as a smalltime program that they should be better than and they would be embarrassed to take an L against us. That makes it tough. I wouldn’t want to be faced with the tall task of luring schools to Wofford for non conference games right now. But we (and the SoCon as a whole really) simply must do better than Mars Hill and Kentucky Christian...worthless games that don’t even count in the eyes of selection committees. I think games like that had something to do with UNCG and Furman not getting bids.

Saw that MY’s Hokies upset #3 Mich St. Another nice feather in his cap!

Va Tech had another great win last night at Syracuse. Tough place to win, and they did it in typical MY style. The league is beginning to realize they are for real, and the success of MY is adding admiration for Wofford's basketball program.

I think that is the first win ever for VT at Syracuse. Mike doing a great job for them, and Jay doing a great job for us...hiring Jay when Mike went to VT was our best move. We need to build on where we are, and we will ... no fear in the heart of the SHD’s.

VT’s win over Syracuse was very similar to our win over UNC: VT shot it poorly but played hard D and had many assists, and won by going on a second half run.https://cuse.com/sports/mens-basketball ... score/8969

Coach Young is doing an awesome job at Va Tech, especially playing so many freshmen. At this pace he is a strong candidate for ACC coach of the year. The Hokies were picked for 14th in the league and right now only one game behind Duke and Louisville. My personal opinion is if Va TEch finishes in topf 5 of ACC he should be Coach of the Year. We all shoul be proud of him.

I am proud of coach Young. He is a great coach and a great man. I just wish he’d left Aluma alone...dead horse I know.
