4th and 3 at the 50. You go for that. You get 3 yards and you win the game.

We are not a defense built to a defend a 2 minute offense.

This one hurts.

I'm so tired of going toe to toe against these low ring FBS teams that we should beat.

It's basic math: You think we can win one play or a series about 12

Dink and dunk is our kryptonite and with no timeouts left that was very predictable. It's not because our players are bad (they're very good), it's just the nature of the defense that there's a lot bigger risk when we have to play hurry up.

Woulda, coulda, shoulda. This is very disappointing. That first half turnover deep in our own territory that lead to a FG turned out to be the difference. You just can’t turn the ball over in a game like this.

Agreed. Not an excuse, but it hurt not having the depth of Brown & Hinton. Roundtree played a heck of a game though.

Don't mean nothin' in the SoCon, but a winnable game. Them ole boys from Sparkle City done good. Have a safe trip home (everyone), nobody dinged-up, get ready for the next adventure...…..Go Terriers!

Chill, everyone, we played a team that can recruit 20 more spots on their team than us--We outplayed them, and outcoached them, and they won, but, we will be in the nat fcs championship game-- :D :D

Safe travels Wofford family. We are still proud of you. Once again it appeared that there were lots of teachables in the game. IF we learn from these it can really help down the road. We may fact better passing teams later, and we have to work harder defending when we have to. I liked that we ran some stunts late. One caused a turnover. We may have to have a whole package for Sammy.

I did see Mikel Horton in a sling with ice on left shoulder. Hope it’s not serious.

I have to say I am tired of losing these very winnable games! We have got to figure out how to defend the pass consistently!!! I don’t think #8 is our QB. Some bad reads and passes. I would liked to heave seen #4 out there in 2nd half.

I really thought we were walking out 14-10. Damn.

Go Terriers!!!

Players make mistakes. It happens. But when specific mistakes happen consistently, it's a weakness attributable to coaching.

Even then, I am very differential when it comes to attributing weaknesses in the pass game to coaching. If you look at the style of defense we play, it's a built-in weakness or better called a risk that we take. It makes sense with our style of play: Nothing beats you deep, so we slow down the pace of the game.

The problem is that the dink and dunk are staples of modern offenses, more than they were 20 years ago. I don't like the style, but I respect it. I just hate that at times our pass defense statistics is tied to our opponents playcalling. Wyoming really didn't trust their QB to make throws down field until that last drive and that was out of necessity.

So, I completely understand why we run the defense we run, but given the above, it's the coaches' job to know it's strengths and weaknesses. Those extra 20 yards we gave up by punting are really inconsequential with the style of defense we have. You knew they were going to pass it, and because they hadn't passed it down field as much, it was no guarantee that we would hold them to the same level of yardage, completions, etc.

And that's why I'm mad. I'm a casual viewer and not an expert, but the costs/benefits were pretty easy to see and it was avoidable. Mercer and Chattanooga and Samford will eat us up.

Great effort by the players and coaches.

What has bothered me for many years is our inability to put teams away. Once again this happened.

At one time, I wondered if this was Mike Ayers' Achilles heel. Now, it is obviously an OC problem.

We had it third and three on their 47, and a first down wins the game; we could not get it. In fact, on fourth and three, we punt ... should not have. This is a game we should have won, even with three turnovers (two really hurt) except we just got too timid and uncreative at the end. Even after converting on fourth and four earlier.

That said, we outplayed them and showed a lot of heart. Our talent level is high. Proud of these guys, and their effort.

The WY fans want to whine and moan about how sub-par they played, their coaching deficiencies, yada, yada. The truth is they were plain lucky to win the turnover battle 3-1 and thereby get a win against a team that has more talent and outplayed them.

Mike Ayers would have went for that 4th and 3 from the 50. Maybe we make it and maybe we don’t but he definitely tries to help it it away there. Ayers went for me re 4th downs than about anyone!

Amen. I'm not sure who called that, but if I was that coach I'd hate to think that I had to face the offense knowing that I was the one who took the ball out of their hands. We played not to lose and ended up losing. This wasn't what our team deserved, but it is what our coaches deserved. That being said, maybe this becomes a staff growth thing and helps us down the line kind of like when Ron Rivera stopped being too conservative and became Riverboat Ron. Regardless, I am proud of our effort and see bright things ahead for this team.
