EKU, Evansville, or us. Michael is exactly what we need, and while we would not need to rush him into being a linchpin, he would be part of a strong team/NCAA tournament contender and make a meaningful contribution for us right out of the box. No fans would appreciate him more, no school would give him an equal education or prettier campus (national arboretum), and no arena would be a classier showcase for his talents. And his esteemed HS coach is a distinguished alum of ours and winningest coach in Kentucky high school history!

I really hope we get this guy Moreno. In videos, he looks like a tough kid, smart and aggressive and versatile. A winner. Neat that his coach is a Wofford alum.

Wofford had a much better record this past year than either EKU or Evansville, if I'm not mistaken. But that might mean more playing is available at one of those spots -- though we could have plenty. And there's the coaching change...but hoping McAuley was already involved in recruiting Moreno and getting to know his family.

Evansville has recently hired Walter McCarty, who starred at Kentucky and has worked in the NBA. I can imagine that that might be impressive to recruits. And I think the EKU coach played at the same high school, so there could be a connection there. I'm guessing Wofford would be the farthest from home for him. No idea if that would be a factor. But I suppose I'm not feeling terribly optimistic. On the other hand, McAuley has been part of great success at Wofford; the gym is amazing; enough talent in the program to keep things at a very high level; great education; nice school.... I'd be thrilled if we can sign Moreno.

T06, there is an interview of Billy Hicks, the Coach, on this fan board, below under Wofford alumni. Moreno thinks very highly of Coach Hicks.

Just read a good story on him too. I wonder some if academics or playing time factored in any with Ervin

Sounds like possibly down to us or EKU. If he turns out anything like last guy who came from Evansville instead, id take that too (sawvell)

Terrier06 -- what's your take on the kid Richardson from Texas? A guy who can likely help early? Hard to tell sometimes, as there are a lot of good guards out there. Of course, that is probably not where we need the most help -- at least not in the short term....any help in the post would be nifty!

In any case, I hope we'll find out some good news from TX.

He said in his interview coaches think he make an impact defensively right away. but it's so tough to know. most of the videos on high school recruits are from playing offense, and even then you never know level of competition. with our guards coming back I'm not sure where he fits in year 1. but I'm sure coaches are high on him as I've never met a coach not think highly of someone they sign, and I trust those guys know a lot more than me.

This would be a great 2nd step. would then need to fill the roster spot with a final player/big guy. I am optimistic that's in progress sooner than later.
