Yes it will be. Make no mistake, they hate us. They think we’re arrogant and can’t wait to take us down a peg- at least that’s the feeling I get from their fans. They also imply we tried to run the score up on UNCG by playing our starters too long...whatever. UNCG is not an inferior overmatched opponent so that’s pretty stupid.

I watched the substitutions as the time wore down in the UNCG game. Coach Young tried to keep his starters off the floor, but got no cooperation from Wes Miller. He put his starters back in until the opposing coach waved his white flag-as it should be. Then he finished the final couple of minutes with the walk ons. It was done with very few fans realizing what was happening; and it was done with plenty of thought. There is an unwritten code in coaching and they all realize it.
Now if you want to consider something done questionably, consider the scoring record set by Furman against a hapless North Greenville. Furman ran it up and put their scorer back in to set records. Really Bush League.

I just noticed Furman has the week off too. Both teams will be rested and ready to go.

And then the North Greenville women went out and beat Furman’s ladies! I think they were motivated! :D

Despite all the crap I give them, we all know FU is a tough opponent and I have a lot of respect for the product they put on the court. Their #32 Matt Rafferty is a SoCon POY candidate and is a load inside. Jordan Lyons is one of the conferences best outside shooters and can rain the treys. And Clay Mounce is one of the most improved players in the league. Noah Gurley is also a guy to watch. They have some horses.

Ther Paladins just lost at UNCG 89-79. Great rebound by the Spartans after their poor game against us. Now Furman is two full games behind us in the SoCon standings and will be in desperate need of a win next Saturday. Conversely, we have the chance to really put some distance between us and the Purple People if we can stack another W.

Agreed. After this game Wofford will have either put some good distance between themselves and the rest of the conference or the race will have tightened considerably. Furman is tough and will be primed to knock the Terriers off, but Wofford has shown an ability to take command in big games this year (ETSU, UNCG, SC) so it ought to be a tight contest that will be decided by whomever either steps up or blinks first. I'd love to see Magee get really hot and erase that threes record Furman set earlier this year. I expect this game might yield the most boisterous home crowd yet at the new arena.

I was told at the UNCG game Thursday night by a Wofford official that the game was already sold out. Really glad to hear that, because I have real hopes that the Spartanburg folks know what they have got in town for such a reasonable price. This is potentially not only the best Wofford team, but also the best Southern Conference team in quite awhile. I was reminded by Thom Henson awhile back that one of our great teams also went 10-11 deep; but I just don't remember a Wofford team that doesn't drop off with substitutions. The players we bring off the bench may be a little different, but they offer their own skills that are special. DTL, for example, is lightning fast; and Tray Hollowell is instant offense. Cheve can sky and is starting to get his scoring attitude. Matt Pegram has soft touch with the ball and give a tall, strong presence inside. Everyone on the team is doing his part. I also will say that I love to watch the managers do their thing, because they mean so much to the team. One of the managers is a female, and she handles her job well. We know the coaches get all the credit, but it obvious that the trainer, Alysse, is really the one in charge!
