Met Jacob last night. Harrisburg was in NH to face the Fishercats (AA Blue Jays.) Perfect night weather-wise. H'burg beat the locals on M, T and scored 5 in the 9th yesterday to sweep 5-3. His record is 5-4 with an ERA of 4.75; pitched an inning in relief on Sunday; so, was hoping I would see him play, not so...
Bought a seat by their bullpen and we chatted about all things Wofford, S'burg, etc. during pre-game and between innings. Quite an impressive young man; very pleasant/articulate, has future plans with/without baseball, tuned into alumni stuff:
Predicts that a Terrier will be in the majors within the next 2 years; indicated Luke Leftwich is the front-runner (now at AAA.) And keep an eye on Adam Scott.
Said several former hoopsters playing professionally were at JRIS this week practicing, playing, etc.
Looks forward to football season.
He also repeated what many have shared here; our baseball program's Athletic Department support pales vs. football and basketball; that needs to change quickly. Amazed what recent squads have been able to accomplish on the diamond/SoCon...
