The Terriers did something tonight that Clemson hasn’t ever been able to do in YEARS- win at Chapel Hill! I think it’s gonna be the sweetest snack time ever!

This is incredible...Derrick Brooks and Cam Jackson had breakout performances. Fletcher was off a bit but still scored 27. Stumpe and Murphy...oh Nelly...good way to segway into SOCON play.

We shot 18 FTs, they shot 38. We had 8 TOs, they had 15.

Just got back from the game. Some great friends took us and we sat in their great seats at UNC expecting to see our little sacrificial lambs go to slaughter. I took photos of the scoreboard at halftime, expecting that slight lead to quickly disappear in the second half. My friends were so eager to get out of there at the end we didn't get a chance to watch the celebration.
Thoughts- 1) If we got that type of effort from Cam Jackson every game we could win 20 games and go to the dance. 2) Our freshmen did a great job in the situation. 3) Stumpe, Hoover, Theme-Love, Brooks, were all amazing. They never had me believing they were trying to hold on; rather playing to win. 4) Carolina played awful, but Wofford contributed to that in a lot of ways. We were out rebounded by them but not by much. Sure, they shot a lot of free throws, but given their height and talent that is to be expected. Personally I thought the refereeing was pretty good-always feel good when Teddy Valentine is out there.
If our coaches can make this a teaching moment for our players-that they CAN do things they couldn't believe- we can be a decent team. I was really pround of the way Storm and Keve played, and so happy for Derrick Brooks. We may not be scouted as a one man team any longer!
There were Wofford folks there. By the end of the game a bunch of them had gathered behind our bench and were going crazy. We wanted to scream, but it wouldn't have been very nice to our hosts. We are screaming now.

Epic win for Wofford. Easily the biggest win for any sport in program history. Wow. I just hate I missed it. Had to go to a Christmas concert last night and forgot to set it up to record. Dangit.

The game will probably be on YouTube or watchespn (I will hunt for it later today)

So, after another 2 year absence...is Wofford “back”?

I am inclined to say yes. Even though we played a kind of soft OOC with 3 non D1 schools, our record is better than usual. I think we can win 20-25 games this year.

Isn’t UNC scheduled to come to our place next season? Could be an interesting rematch considering we only lose Brooks to graduation.

I still think this team is behind UNCG, Furman and ETSU. If we could count on Cam day in and out it would be different, but he is way too erratic. We have, however, found Strumpe, Hoover and the two freshmen can play.

boulder3m:

You might be correct that Wofford's not quite as strong as the top teams in the Southern Conference this year. But I'm intrigued....

Obviously, the team showed some talent and toughness against UNC. A great and historic win. But I'm impressed by some of the adjustments the coaching staff has made.

**Looks like Murphy is clearly the point guard. He's been given the keys and seems to be developing into a really solid player.
**I like Hoover, and I think he's going to have a good season. He did some good things against the Tar Heels. But I like Brooks in the line-up -- a senior and perhaps brings some added toughness on the perimeter.
**I'm not wild about the smaller starting line-up in a way, as I think the combination of Pegram and Jackson could -- emphasis: could -- be quite a tandem. But Stumpe is a player, just seems to do a lot of important things. And maybe the smaller line-up gives Jackson a little more room to operate. And while Jackson has been inconsistent, maybe his performance in Chapel Hill will be the confidence boost he needs to really keep an edge.

My guess is that it's tough for Theme-Love to not start, and I'm sorry for Lowery to not get playing time. But if guys can buy into a role and play hard when they're in games, things can work. And playing time might go up and down -- Coach Young has shown willingness to play a lot of guys significant minutes.

Finally, Magee really is special. He might not get 25+ every night. But he's quite a presence out there. To have a player who other teams constantly have to worry about would really cause some challenges, I would think.
