I agree. At this point, I am for the best candidate who also understands our culture. Things work differently on North Church Street and the head football coach needs to understand and embrace that. Yes, we are quirky, but we've been successful and that should be respected.
I understand the "next man up" dynamic of a WL hire and if anyone is qualified to make that suggestion it is MA. It seems like a fit to me, but I'm not convinced it's the best fit, but I don't get a vote. I am fine with change and evolution in the Athletic Dept. and also on the academic side so long as Wofford doesn't lose it's sense of itself. Let Furman, Elon, High Point and others chase the idea of being a northeastern liberal arts college in the South if they want; Wofford needs to remain true to Wofford.
