Not sure about Assistant salaries. Several years ago it was $90-$100K for OC/DC. With position coaches well below that. I have heard that maybe that changed with Ayers’ meeting with The Big Cat when GaSo came calling.
Still, in the game that is now present day college football, all are underpaid. We are not in the range of existing HCs in top FCS programs I would think. But we are in the range of coordinators in lower FBS programs like GaState, App, and service academies.
BUT the Wofford job is NOT a typical D-1 job. Low pressure to win (with tons of alumni support (some with HUGE names and connections)) at academically centered college in small/mid size southern town with established program founded in essence by legendary coach. The sky scraper is built and furnished and leased up; all you got to really do is keep the lights on and plumbing working (Don’t screw it up) and build upon it if you can. Good job. We will get a lot of interest I would think.

From what I've heard in the past, salaries are not on par with similar level schools. I would be very surprised if the new HC makes more than 150.

MA made over 200K in 2008... I would think we could pay 175K.

That surprises me, we have lost good assistants due to them needing to make a decent wage.

It was said on this site in 2010 that’s what he made... Someone sighted they did tax research... That’s where I gathered my info... Is there a pool of money for assistants? I wonder if HC then breaks it up how he deems necessary?

With news spreading at the speed of heat in these days and times, and into such a small (relatively) pool of interest, what interest there is out there in the WOF head coaching job, should be back into the ears of the powers that be at about right now! And I would bet that those same powers that be already know who may be in and who may be out on the priority list. The only iffy situation (IMO), would be a high priority catch waffling about making the leap. This thing should be a done deal before new years.............as always, I could be wrong..........Go Terriers!

We are not on par with the NDSUs or JMUs, but we are relatively on par with the FUs and Cids.

It's apparent by the semifinal games that the FCS is NDSU, JMU and then everyone else.

We can compete with anyone not named NDSU/JMU and recruit with them too

BTW, NCA&T beat Grambling today 21-14 to finish 12-0. Don't know if they could beat NDS, but they are talented, quick and well coached. Too bad they were not in the playoff.

Both would get piledrivin into oblivion in the playoffs. The MEAC/SWAC do not produce good football teams for the playoffs. Just look at what's happen in recent history.

It is reallly hard to take the MEAC seriously if they don't compete in the playoffs. In addition, they tend to get blown out when they go out of their league. Watched the game a little yesterday and wasn't impressed at all.

Just saw James Madison's Coaching staff and wanted to throw some other names out.

Bryan Stinespring of the Frank Beamer coaching tree (Salary reported at $50K) was O-Coordinator for VT and does current run game for JMU.
Byron Thweatt with NFL, ACC, and Head Coaching experience (Salary reported at $80K). Also Coached at Richmond and current LB coach.

So are you saying we should hire a position coach from JMU over a Wofford guy with 25 years coordinator experience under MA and played a major role in the success of Pegram being a perennial national power?

Footballscoop is reporting ETSU is set to hire Florida State Seminoles Offensive Coordinator Randy Sanders. Who also had stints at Tennessee and Kentucky. Sorry but this is the type of coaches we are going up against. Coaches with exposure to NFL and FBS schematics. And yes those JMU Assistant coaches mentioned are just a few who have exposure to Elite level football schemes and preperation.
