Most of Furmans football team (this is a Football board) is from GA, SC, NC TN etc. Wofford has often had several Cincinatti / Kentucky area guys .... Football wise Wofford is a Yankee haven :D

Just ha in' fun w ya. I am pretty sure Ayers is from there thus the KY/Ohio players

No harm. Honestly all I care about is good players. I couldn't care less where they come from

First. Congrats on 2-0 in conference. A sincere congrats.

And yes, we lost to the FElons. ( 2 fumbles put us down 21-0, then we came back w strong option play to lead 31-24 but wore down in end. We don't have ANY depth yet. Like w FU v Woff, we win Q2 and Q3 but you wore us down in Q4). We aren't gonna be good this year. It's a process. We have a new HC. And he can coach some serious option and OL. that's been proven at Furman (Both national champ and runner up). and Air Force. NEW DC Staggs - who did wonders at Charieston Southern as you know. When you can take Chaleston Southern to playoffs that's something. And it was primarily based in Staggs defense.

I would hesitate to heckle us too much. I bet in a year or three we are really good. This is very much how it was when Bobby Johnson came to FU. 3-8.... Then playing in the TITLE game a few years later.

We lost TWENTY FIVE players to graduation and transfers based on the new system so we are very young. Two examples - our starting five OL has three freshman. That's crazy. Youngest I can ever remember. Our total defense two deep has 2 seniors of 22 players. I am honestly shocked we are winning Q2 and Q3 against anyone. Based on that we shouldn't even be competitive yet That's not poor mouthing. That's reality. 3 of five OL as freshman w a new blocking scheme for all 5? 2 seniors of 22 defensive players ? In a new D system? We are switching from a 4-3 to a 3-4. Don't even have right guys for that.

Anyway, good luck and I'll have to wait 12 months to play you again :(

Don't forget we have a non-Southern president and are actively recruiting students from the north. We haven't gone over the edge yet, but the risk is there.

I graduated from Wofford. Came from NJ. I knew of only two other people from the northeast on campus during my time.
Two of the more common things said to me when I tell people I graduated from Wofford:
Southerner: "Wow you must be smart. What a gorgeous school."
Northerner: "Wofford? Never heard of it - is it one of the D3 schools in Pennsylvania?"

Not ONE person I knew in NJ had ever heard of Wofford before I went there. To this day, the overwhelming majority of people I speak with in the Northeast have not heard of Wofford. So, I think Wofford getting infiltrated with "Yankees" isn't in the near future.

Never even thought about where a Wofford student came from, ever, nor probably ever will again--Oh my--

Lots of my friends, and family, are Yankees. There is a Southern charm about Wofford that is very real. People are genteel, friendly and accepting of each other. We welcome anyone, but I hope we keep our culture. Duke lost theirs-my father went to Duke. From what I hear Elon is losing theirs, and I know lots of folks think Furman lost a lot of their culture over the years. It can happen very subtly and without much awareness. The culture and charm is part of what makes Wofford what we love.

As long as Wofford stays small (which we are, from all interaction I've had with administration--including President Samhat, there's no intention to grow and they kind of do this #-o when freshmen classes get too big) we'll maintain that character.

It's a paradox. If you become too good of a school, you'll become more "nationalized" and lose the small time feel because everyone wants to get in. Administration is trying to do both and so far they've towed the line successfully in my opinion.

All good points. I remember a couple "northerners" during my time at Wofford in the early 90's (NJ and Mass., specifically, but there were probably others), but in both cases I remember, the student was a fit for Wofford in all aspects. Maybe they had a different background, but they were definitely "Wofford people" through and through. I do believe that Wofford can benefit from increased diversity, but I agree that the campus culture should remain intact. I guess what I am saying is that people are either "Wofford people" or they are not and so long as we recruit "our people" both as students and student-athletes, then the Wofford culture will be safe.

Cit shooting themselves in the foot over and over. Fumbled at least 3 times. ETSU's O seems anemic but game is still tied. Although still in the 1st qtr.

not so fast my friends....ETSU shot right down the field and scored and got the 2 point conversion (75 yards in 2 1/2 minutes). 28-25 Citadel lead with 5:15 left in the game
