Some of the younger fans may not know about this guy, but he was a prototypical SHD, at 6'4" an undersized (even for D-2) forward that scored and rebounded very well against bigger guys mainly through intense heart and effort. He, like me, was a 1994 Wofford graduate and he was a good a guy as he was a basketball player. RIP.

I did not know Sidney but by all accounts he was a fine student and player; one of the best high school players in SC as well as leading us in rebounding all four years. Condolences to his family.

This is really sad. Did not hear the cause of death. I lived across the hall from Sidney and Mario Harper our freshman year and Sidney was a great guy. He was just a big ol' Teddy Bear off the court but a beast on it.Super mobile for a big man and ran the court as well as any big man we have had. Hadn't seen him in a long time. He will be missed.

I messaged one of our classmates about Sid last week. He was sick but supposedly no one really new about it. He wasn't exactly sure if Sid himself knew about it. It was sudden and unexpected.

Sid was SC Mr. Basketball in high school for the 89-90 schoolyear, if memory serves me correctly. He and Matt Allen lived on our hall our senior year. He was one of my favorites of all time.

Sidney was our small college version of Charles Barkley. Just an all out beast for a 6'4'' guy. Could hold his own against any big man.

And he was a heckuva a nice guy.

Prayers for his family , Wofford and Sparkle City.

I am sad about this.

In addition to watching Sidney at Wofford, I went to Spartanburg High with him. He was a dominating high school player. Held the school record for points, I believe. He was so strong, had great hands, got great position....people couldn't deal with him. He played on some great SHS teams.

I've been out of town a lot lately and just saw this. Major bummer. Sidney was a year ahead of me, but I was an acquaintance in person and a big fan on the court. He was a big part of our success in the late D-II era and also in the D-II tournament season. Definitely one of my favorite all-time SHD's.

Sidney will be missed. I guess you never know. Every day is a gift. RIP big fella...
