We were not sharp. UNCG played some very good D, and penetrated effectively. We shot 31% to their 54%. http://woffordterriers.com/news/2017/2/ ... esday.aspx

Positives? Saw some old Wofford friends. Some of our bench got a bunch of quality minutes. Got to take my grandson to a Wofford game. Not much more. Any word on Sawvell? Looked like a knee, but hard to tell. Hope he is OK.

Yeah, definitely a tough game- we looked out of sorts from the opening tip. Inconsistency has seemed to define our play this season. Still, the alumni event was a lot of fun and it was nice to meet lawdog and cheer on the Terriers with some other diehard fans.

Tourney time approacheth. The league is strong this year, but we have what it takes to win the tourney if a few things fall our way.

Great to meet you Terrier 13, and to see Boulder pulling for the Terriers. Danny Morrison was cheering us on as well.

We have a lot of young players that have struggled quite a bit away from home. The SoCon tourney is not going to be held in the BenJo. We will have to grow up very fast.

Big game for us tonight. Need to play well on the road and build some momentum going into the tourney. A win tonight and if we can beat FU again would do just that. One added bonus is that we do not play next week. Everyone except Wofford and Furman play Monday night before the tourney but I think we could use the rest to refresh. More time to game plan as well.

A very hot shooting second half leads to a very solid 81-63 road win at VMI; the best game we've played away from the BenJo by a long shot. Cameron Jackson was a beast inside, and Fletcher Magee lit it up from outside. Great momentum and confidence builder as we approach SoCon tourney time. Now all we need is a road win in that butt ugly purple arena at FU.

There are bits and pieces of this team that suggest we're getting things together. Both Sawvell and Garcia with near-double-doubles. Cam Jackson has grown into a leader on the floor with 20 points tonight. Fletcher had 24. Hoover had a solid night.

But then again, we were playing the worst team in the league. If we could have put forward this sort of product consistently throughout the year we would have been much better record-wise. We're the kind of team that could either catch fire and win the tournament or come out and lose in the first round. Hard to say which is more likely. The Socon is better than it used to be on the top half

+1 I think we are capable of winning the SoCon tournament if we are hot. But we have struggled a lot away from the BenJo and we could also lose early. No matter what happens in Asheville, this team looks like it has a very bright future. A lot of young players will continue to develop and get better. Jackson, Magee, and Hoover are already very good. I think Lowery will develop into a very good one too. And perhaps the Tuckers too. Losing Garcia and Sawvell will hurt, but we seem to have signed two very promising guys to fill their roster spots that might be able to contribute some right away.

What happened to the freshman Michael Manning? Was he injured? Or did he get redshirted? I don't think he played all season.

With Chattanooga's loss against Samford tonight, we will be matched up against the Mocs in the SoCon tourney (tiebreaks have the two of us locked into the 4-5 matchup). They've been a tough matchup for us this year but hopefully we are able to figure some things out given our longer layoff after the Furman game. Thoughts on UTC? I know we have a game left against the hated Furples but a win on Saturday won't mean much if we get bounced in our first game in a Asheville.

YT, you are correct about the depth in the league. Best we have seen in a long time. There are 5-6 pretty good teams, and maybe a couple of very good teams. It is still a one bid league, but if they keep going this way that could change. For Wofford the answer is consistency. We shot terribly in the first half tonight and then shot well in the second half to make the game stats look decent. We have to get good post play to open up our obvious talent shooting outside. I'll say it again, Sawvell and Garcia are strong senior leaders who give us the play we need night after night. If the others can step up we can be pretty good. Take a look back and think where we would be if we hadn't had those terrible losses at home against Citadel and on the road against WCU. That is how close this team is from being on top of the league. Our guys need to step it up against Furman and pick up some momentum heading into the tournament against Chatty.

94, I believe Manning is redshirting this year. Probably a smart move given that Lowery and Tucker have played sparingly. All 3 have the potential to be solid players but need a little more lbs and seasoning. Between Brooks, Theme-Love, and Murphy we should be adequate at the point. Will need Hoover and Fletch to continue with deadly outside stuff. We have seen what really good outside shooting can do to open the paint. Cameron and Pegram will continue to benefit next year. I would look for Cam and Fletch to both garner all-conference pre-season attention. But I digress, hopefully, a lot more basketball to be played this season...

Chatty has not been a good matchup for us this season. I was hoping to avoid them. We are capable of beating them, but it will be very tough. We will have to play mistake free and shoot it well to have a chance. One thing we have going for us is it's hard to beat someone three times in a season.

Yes, this team has been up and down this year to say the least. Hopefully they can surprise some teams in the tournament because as been pointed out above they can play with anybody. But what struck while I was watching last night is that Fletcher and Cam are only sophomores. The future is bright there. Fletcher is arguably having a bit of an off year, but he still can take over games is averaging 18/game. And came has come on both offensively and defensively. He has been blocking a lot of shots of late. Very excited about the rest of this season and so excited about moving into JRIS!
