The NCAA drug policy is weird. They collect urine after games, process it once. If positive they double-check. Supposedly the result did not come back until after our game. What then is the purpose of drug testing?

The Olympics works sort of like that, but in the Olympics, the punishment is forfeiture. For the NCAA, the punishment is sitting our a later game.

Forfeiture is too extreme, why punish an entire team if one player smokes a joint?

Bottom line. We had chances to win and didn't. Youngstown State is still Youngstown State and Tressel's reputation is well-earned, but it didn't really affect the outcome of the game.

The NCAA is in dire need of reform, dissolution or replacement for many reasons. So many of their rules are unreasonable or archaic. Their drug testing policy certainly needs to be addressed if results like this occur. With that being said, I agree. We lost the game on the field and the positive drug tests of a few and even the pending weapons charges of some others should not have a bearing on which team moves on. I doubt very seriously our players would want to advance in the playoffs through a forfeited game (not that this would ever happen anyway). You can tell that this team completely adsorbed the most honorable character of its head coach. Integrity. I have a huge problem with some of the play calling but I would never, ever question the integrity of our head coach or his staff. They have proven to be men of the highest ethical standards and that is something Wofford is and should be very proud of. We score more points than YSU with the players either side puts on the field and we move on period. We did not. End of story. If they had players that tested positive or should have been suspended then hopefully they suffer the consequences. That's on them and is their burden to carry in a manner in which they choose to carry it. However, our season ended at the end of the second overtime on Saturday. No purpose in speculating otherwise.

Enough news about it to not be swept under the rug. Punishment is coming, and the 5 ineligible players are now sitting for the next round. They will suffer the consequences whether it is a week late or not, it is coming.

But should not the offending team be penalized too, for the actual games in which their ineligible players play? Have a rule, or don't! It should not be complicated: if an ineligible player plays, your team loses. Leaving it up to "integrity" of the team that benefitted makes no sense, when the team has already demonstrated that it has none by letting ineligible players play.

Where is the incentive to keep ineligible players off the field? Under this "system", the team that benefits is the NEXT opponent, who simply will not be competing against the ineligible players. Meanwhile, the violating team keeps the win, and the chance to play a next game in the playoffs, which it earned while using ineligible players! The violated team receives nothing from the violation. Nonsense.

JMU has suspended 7 players from the Championship game.

Although they apparently held them out of the semifinals also.

I guess in FCS, you toke your way to the top.
