several dumb dumb penalties. Awful. Bad decision to go for on 4th in the first. Defense played well all in all. Still fuming over the phantom offensive pass interference call that negates a helluva catch and in the red zone. UNBELIEVABLE BAD CALL!!!

Bad call or not- we probably would have won the game without the penalties.

We did this to ourselves- nobody else to blame.

Well, just finished my plate of crow, not too tasty. Oh, the penalties! Not an original observation, but, we cannot play pass defense. No team can give up that many passing yards and expect to win. All the rushing yards, all the time of possession may get accolades in the national stat books, but it don't get the golden ring. Need more balance, IMO.....and as always, I could be wrong!

Okay so now that the sting of that one has somewhat passed...I still think we can be a good football team.

It sucks that we lost but we played much better than we did last year and if one team was going to throw it all over the place on us, it would be them.

We can still make the playoffs, it's just a little harder now.

It's hard to defend these fast break spread sling it around offenses. They put 21 on chatty last week. Take away the bad 4th down decision on first possession and we may win despite the penalties. Didn't like some of the play calls but if we execute, we win, bottom line.

I dont like the pass play call on the 2 point conversion attemp. The oline was largely having its way absent some stunts. I have said this a lot of times, more vehemently in years past, but put it in number 7's hands.

How about....we run the option (or some variation of it). Last time I checked it's what we do.
Turrible.

It seems to me that the option with the third possibility-the pass-on a two point try is the play to run. Do what you do the best and make them stop it.
On the other hand, we did show that we can pass the ball, and do it well. Isn't Wofford supposed to be the smart guys? How can we make such stupid mistakes, both the coaching staff and the players...

They were 28-32 passing....the rushing only three didnt work. We have the horses to get to the quarterback. 28-32!!

I haven't given up on the season.
We had no turnovers (other than the horrible 4th down call on our first possession (the offense wasn't clicking, why did Ayers think it would work?))
We moved the ball well despite using a limited playbook. There were no turnovers.
Unfortunately, penalties at key moments destroyed us. When was the last time a 1st and goal from the second ended up with 2d and goal from the 25?
I didn't like the 2-point play called, but at least we gave it a try.

This was a game we needed to win and should have won, but is now water under the bridge.
Hopefully we can get our at together next week.

Just got back from the game. Some positives, but not enough to overcome the mistakes. Pass interference call was a joke, roughing the passer looked incidental from my angle, the obligatory blocking calls we always seem to get, who knows. The personal fouls and false starts seem like the bigger issue. The 4th down play call was questionable, but that's Ayers football. I've been watching him do that for as long as I've watched Wofford football. The offense did some good things and was wearing down Samford's DL, they just needed a little more time to finish them off. No turnovers was nice, although we did have the one bad pitch. Our DL was getting push all over the place, but credit Samford's guys for giving ground, but keeping us in front of them. The 2 point call was baffling. 80% of the option sweeps we were running we going for 3-5 yards. It makes no sense to go to the air in a crowded short field in that situation. Our D shut down their run, but Samford did get their last first down on the ground which ran the clock down to nothing. I will credit Samford for winning the game, but we sure did do something to help them out. The season isn't a loss yet, but the Terriers are going to have finish out with no more than one more loss, so basically, the playoffs start next week.
