We have interest in QB Ken Avent of James Kenan High in Warsaw NC. 6'1" 185. His dad played QB at Catawba and is the Kenan head coach and very successful. Grandfather was a high school head coach as well. Nice tape. Strong arm and has run the TO, along with the spread and I.

Big schools have been getting verbals since the spring. Ours typically start to dribble in about this time but most kids want to see what other bigger offers they get before committing.

We have our first commitment of 2017 class: WR/RB/S Kent Phelps of Paintsville High in Ky has verbally indicated he is a Terrier.

We have offered SS Mark Henderson of Madison Ridgeland Academy High in Valdosta Ga. 6'2" 190 4.4 40. Kid is a player. Fast and physical. Has offers from Liberty, FU, Mercer as well as others.

Phelps is an excellent back; quick, like Gay but a little bigger. Versatile. Top 50 in Kentucky. Was getting a lot of interest, including Ivies and service academies. Not sure about the HS level of competition.

I noticed that their 40 yd time is 4.97. Seems like to me that is fast for a guy that weighs close to 300 lbs. And looking at their highlights they are agile and quick. And assuming they get the freshman blues when they enroll at Wofford they will at least have each other so they should not feel too homesick. Hopefully. How many players have we lost due to homesickness (girlfriend or just plain homesick) ?
