I think it is time to seriously consider weather or not the future employment of Coach I at Wofford is really in this baseball program's best interests. And I'd vote in the negative. The guy's been here almost ten years now with no regional appearances to his credit. And he totally blew the WCU game and also pretty much the whole tourney with his idiotic handling of Will Stillman. A typical volunteer little league manager would have known better than to leave Will in so long. I feel bad for the kids, especially Will, whose college career was allowed to end on such a downer. A win against WCU and this thing might have gone completely different. The underachievement of this team this year, who was picked to finish third yet could only manage a .500 conference record, a seventh place finish and an 0 and 2 and a barbeque showing at the conference tourney, is a bitter pill to swallow. And I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that Tim Wallace would have won that WCU game. Sorry if my post seems too harsh; I am just a little disgusted right now because it is just so blatantly obvious this situation was totally mismanaged and it in effect ended the season. I'm also not abashed to admit that that I, like quite a few other Wofford alumni, still think about what the team might look like with Wallace as skipper. But alas, we'll never know because there's no way Tim would ever take this job now after how he was handled during the imfamous "national seach" for a new coach.
I'm sure Will will be drafted again and get a chance to play professional baseball though. Best wishes to him and to the rest of the seniors on the team whose Wofford careers ended today.
