We were fortunate that VMI turned it over so much. They were 3-4 on 4th and 8 conversions against our D. Offense was effective in the short fields that the turnovers gave us. Lots of missed tackles and YAC for VMI receivers. Botched PATs seem to be a recurring theme with us since Mercer, too. Good win, but still lots of room to improve. Keep fighting.

Happy for the win. Guys played hard. Some well needed rest and a Bye week to prepare for Sammy. 4 passes wont cut it against them however I fear.

Remember this game? I was there, and am sure others on the board were too ... flat as a pancake. But we really deserved to receive a bid anyway, and did not.

Game video's up. Pregame speech; Roach and Jacks postgame.

Windham shows great balance and savvy. For a freshman, Miles Brown is something. They stunted him some and got him, but they had to double team him a lot too and he was usually around the ball. Roach is a good looking athlete. Evan looks confident. OL and LB's excellent. Team showed a lot of enthusiasm and hustle here.

We felt like we could run it on them so the game plan was to hand it over to Jacks. I suspect Butler and Ray were held out because we didn't think we would need them and hopefully give them 3 weeks to heal up. From the video, lots of blown assignments defensively by VMI (in addition to the TOs). From the listening to the game, it sounded like they were picking on Brion when we went man behind a stunt.
A game we should have won and we did.
Now 2 left for pride.
The pregame speech was interesting: enjoy the process not the outcome; coming out of last week, our minds and hearts are clear, no regrets; we are better than what our record indicates.

MA is trying to keep their chins and confidence up, clearly.
While I agree we have nothing to be ashamed of (other than the horrific 3rd quarter, bad snaps, poor 4th down play call, clock management etc.) v. Chatty, playing hard and feeling like you're better than your record indicates doesn't win championships and put rings on fingers. Only making plays and getting it done does. We haven't gotten it done....in quite a while now. And yeah, I know all about the injuries this year.
Anybody watch CSU/CCU Saturday night? I have to admit I felt a twinge of inadequacy.

Ruckus I watched most of that game and was very impressed with Chuck South-as I expected to be. I was thinking that i wanted to ask on the board about the school, as I know nothing about it; who attends, etc. I have said all season that Coastal was overrated, and, while they are very good, I still think they are about he third best if you combine the Big South and the Socon. We may get a chance to Chatty play either or both of them down the line, but I hope both all get good seeds. The two conferences deserve more national recognition. There ARE some good teams around here.

Charleston Southern is the old Baptist College of Charleston. It is essentially the low country version of North Greenville. They have been recruiting very well in South Carolina, where being a Southern Baptist school can be a big draw. Their athletic facilities are lacking. Some of this may be due to an incident about 10-15 years ago when their endowment was embezzled by a crooked manager.

They installed lights on their football field two years ago, and field turf last year, but still have high school class A or AA stands with a published capacity of 4000.
