I suppose it does if you are talking with a fan of Davidson, Charleston, Appalachian State or Georgia Southern.

The conference has a better overall RPI than it has had in a couple of years. Furman just getting hot at the right time. Happens in conference tournaments sometimes.

We're used to seeing the David vs. Goliath thing at Wofford, but this is the first time Wofford has been the Goliath.

Thanks John Moc. Frankly, the biggest surprise to me about Furman this year is not how close they came tonight, but how poor their regular season was in light of the substantial talent they have. I know they are somewhat young, but there are about 8-9 very good players on that roster. They should be a contender next year.

Really good point, Lawdog. You wonder how that talented bunch from Furman had such a poor regular season. They have height, strength in the wings and good guards. Hard to see how they could have lost so many league games. To say they will be good next year assumes they will play like the last two weeks of the season this year. There are a bunch of other teams that are going to be good next year as well. Just read that Chuck Drisell got fired at Citadel. I think he is a good coach. The Citadel is a hard place to recruit to and play for.

FU started 1 Jr, a sophomore, and 3 freshmen v. us in Spartanburg in January. 2 Jrs, a sophomore, and 2 freshmen last night. That's why. It was a just a young team.
The team we played last night (and Saturday a week ago) is essentially 2 Srs, a Jr, and 2 sophmores after a season's worth of experience.
I really like their skill level and game plan (isolate down low v a smaller team; ball screens with shot or dribble drive and kick options to Beans who everybody leaves wide open).

Weren't several of their early subs upperclassmen who have played a lot in the past, and just got beat out?

That is true with the exception of Davis (lit us up for 20 last Sat.) who is also a true freshman.

Furman will probably be a force to be reckoned with in the coming years because of their coach. You don't accomplish a turnaround like that without one helluva coach getting the absolute best out of his players. Our league is about to become a hugely competitive league with great coaching. With Mike Young at the helm for us, our facilities, and what Wofford has to offer, the future is bright for us. I think we should be able to get some very attractive games at home now from out of conference teams--That kind of scheduling can help with our RPI

Haha! Furman is like that little kid who loves to poke fun at other people but gets all bent out of shape when you say something about them. They can dish it out and they can't take it.

If storming a court after winning a conference championship and cashing in on a NCAA bid and some student's t-shirts are the worst they can pin on us, then they are stretching for criticism.

The real question should be why are their students more committed? For years they've bashed us for football attendance, but when all the chips were in the center of the table (and a lot more on the line), they got "out fanned" by little old Wofford. Their message board bears this out.

Furman executed an amazing turnaround at the end of the season, played a game worthy of anyone's respect and has a bright future from both a personnel and coaching standpoint. If they have so much class, then act like it, acknowledge they came up a bit short, wish the Terriers luck and prepare for next season.

Furman was on spring break. Wofford doesn't have spring break until April due to interim. That's why we had more fans there
