Braves Pick Gilmartin with 1st pick

Postby wocorebel on Tue Jun 07, 2011 11:24 am

The Braves selected Sean Gilmartin with the 28th pick of the draft. That name should look familiar because he is our own Michael Gilmartin's brother. I talked with Sean last year at the Team USA trials. HE seems like he has a good head on his shoulders and good stuff. Here is to hoping him the best.

Michael is holding his own in A + ball as well. Google First Inning Michael Gilmartin.

Waring seems to be struggling so far this season.

Cornely was just drafted by the Braves too. Braves are drafting a lot of college players.

Brandon Waring and the Bowie Baysox face the NH Fishercats tonight in Manchester, NH. I'm attending and look forward to saying hello. Appears he sat out last night's 8-2 win over the locals. Let's hope the HOT weather in these parts (90F and humid) spark his batting stroke/average. Otherwise, I'll be heading home to watch the Boston Bruins, New England's Black and Gold, beat Vancouver on their way to the Stanley Cup!

Brandon had last night off; but, enjoyed speaking with him pregame. Great guy with a good perspective - i.e. said it's a long season with opportunity for team and him to ramp up.
He was pleased another Terrier had been drafted and going to the Braves.

Thanks. I think he will have a strong year.

Baysox are off to Portland, Maine this weekend to face the Seadogs (Boston Red Sox AA team.) Some friends plan to see BW at Sunday's game.

WoCo NH Dude, Thanks for chatting with Brandon Waring and following up with us all. I think it meant more to him than you know that a Wofford fan would get with him before the game. It is great that he was 3-3 with two homers...hope he can keep it going. He can perform in the majors if he perseveres and if given the chance. In addition to the talent, he has the character and work ethic.

Lawdog, et al - My pleasure!

Need to get Brandon Waring back to New England - and soon. After tearing up NH Fishercat pitching on Thursday, the Bay Sox faced the Red Sox AA team in Portland, Maine. Our fellow Terrier had an RBI on Friday (0-4), Sat rainout and went crazy on Sunday: 3-4 with a home run and 5 RBI!!! Hopefully, he'll continue his hot streak and be selected for the Eastern League All Star Game (Tuesday, July 12, in Manchester, NH.) If that's the case, we'll be there.

Also like the fact that Brandon had 0 strikeouts in the three games.
