A VERY frustrating loss....lots of things to consider about it.

While I don't want to get into blaming the officials for the loss -- indeed, I think a lot went into the game -- I think we got thoroughly hosed on that charging call against Drew Gibson with less than a minute left. That was a game-changer....and I thought a terrible call to make with under a minute in the game....just not that much contact or advantage gained.

Oh well, I hope we can get things together from this point.

Wasn't this game against The Citadel our best chance remaining for another win?

After looking at the remaining schedule, I don't see a single game we should be favored in. I hope we turn a corner soon, or things are going to be really ugly.

It would appear that the main problem is our defense. Statistics show
that we have one of the worse defenses in the country. I would be
interested in hearing some other opinions.

I think the problem is a lack of serious post presence. Whatley does an adequate job but he is the only option down low. Godzinski and O'Conner have some size but are more comfortable on the perimiter. There is simply no go to man in the post that you can count on for some easy buckets night in and night out. This team truly lives and dies by the three, almost half of the shots attemted are threes. (892 total shots, 422 of them threes)

Thanks tdog. That's the best analysis I have heard. Maybe next year
when we get Dahlman things will improve. Meanwhile, looks like a
long season.

I didn't see the stats but Citadel was just flat out hot shooting the ball in the second half. We missed some crucial free throws that could have made a difference but I thought our guys played hard and didn't give up. I think we will upset some folks the rest of the way.

I'm glad to hear we played hard. At least that's some encouragement.

Citadel shot well in the second half (58%), but we actually shot better (62%). I think part of that can be contributed to hot hands, but also to some poor defense. The first five minutes of the second half were exciting to watch, a total of 36 points were scored comibined in those 5 minutes. Nichols, Gibson and Marshall are sure fun to watch when they are clicking.

Hot shooting = poor defense. I also think we are not very physical which goes along with the comment about no presence in the post. Dahlman should help us correct that next year.

Not getting a defensive hand in someones face=hot shooting. That run they had at the start of the second half had guys wide open hitting from outside. It was like a shoot around out there.

Certainly there should have been some more defensive pressure but there was some outstanding shooting by both teams. I didn't realize and would not have guessed we shot over 60%.
