Fight Song?

Postby gophoenix on Mon Apr 21, 2008 9:16 am

What is Wofford's fight song? And is there an electronic copy of it anywhere?

It was a serious question.

Someone told me that even though you don't have a band, you still have a fight song...... and recorded at that.

I'm asking because I am putting together a site with electronic copies of all the fight songs, alma maters and spirit songs for (hopefully) all the I_AA schools.

So, that's why I asked. I wasn't trying to be mean.

I've never heard of a Wofford fight song. :(

Unfortunately, I almost never hear the Alma Mater played either.

the reason i asked is someone told me it was to the tune of the Notre Dame fight song..... but i guess maybe not.

Curious, why don't you guys have at least a pep band?

Thanks guys.

During the early to mid-90's we were playing a recorded version of Notre Dame's fight song. That ended at somepoint before 2000. Since that time, one would assume that the fight song is anything recorded by AC/DC based off our usual stadium music.

"Who Let The Dogs Out" was popular for one year, but I think somebody actually listened to the words once and it's now gone.

There was something written a couple of years ago that was unveiled at a large development function on the Front Lawn. I think quite a bit of time was spent on it, but it was not very well-received so it was never really heard again. Sounded kinda like the theme music for a circus...or kinda like rag-time (which is fine if you're Auburn, Clemson, or LSU, but didnt sound too great in this particualr scenario).

My cousin and his brother-in-law told me that when Wofford did so well in 2003 they went up to Gibbs for one of the early round games. When they heard a "Grrrrr!" coming from the loudspeakers as the team ran onto the field, they said they were a little embarrassed. :)

Anyway, no fight song or terrier growl could be as bad as PC's fight song. It sounds like a polka. When I was an undergrad I seriously considered asking the president if I could come up with a new one.

No you wouldn't. The lyrics are fine but the tune sounds like a polka.
