Coach Robertson

Just a brief note of tribute to Coach Joel Robertson who just passed
away at age 86.

Coach Robertson was, truely, one of the great figures in the history
of Wofford athletics, both as a player and coach. He coached
basketball when I was at Wofford and was remembered for re-
cruiting the great Ellerbe "Daddy" Neal who brought our program
into prominence. I will never forget the great battles between Neal
and Frank Selvy when we played Furman.

Coach Robertson had a real passion for Wofford. May he rest in

When did Neal play? Do we know where he is now?

"Daddy" Neal graduated in 1953. He now resides in Greer, SC. He
had season tickets to our football games but I have not seen him in
about two years. I heard he has had some heart problems.

Thanks. I had a friend back in school (John Coan) whose dad played in that era, I believe. He was a heart specialist at Sptbg. regional-- "Pep" Coan.
