Wofford vs Clemson

Postby BestOfBreed on Tue May 08, 2007 4:03 pm

Vartanian getting his first start of the season.

Clemson has beaten Wofford nine straight and 30 of the last 32 games. The good news is this is the worst hitting Clemson team in over a decade and it's a neutral field.

Sellout crowd.

Nothing like Wofford pitching to cure your offensive woes. Clemson up 6-0 after 2 innings.

12-3 was the final. Tigers feasted off our arms. Homers by D'Lessio (2), Harbin, Hogan. BUT they only out hit us 11 to 10. Marquez Smith makes a diving stab on the foul line on a rocket by Waring and barely throws him out to end the 7th with bases loaded or the score would have been much tighter. Brandt hit a 2 run dinger and Eaves hit rocket shot in the first that was tracked down in right center. One throwing error by Brandt in the 2nd on a bunt hurt a little and made for a long painful inning. But I was proud of our guys. They played hard and didn't give up. Make no mistake, we have some everyday players that can flat out play but as has been said many times, many ways on this board: our arms just aren't there. Great atmosphere although there was nothing neutral about it. It was ALL orange. But was nice to watch college baseball and drink a few cold ones.
