I agree. As long as we are putting the ball in play hard somewhere and getting on base, we can manufacture runs. The key is arms and not giving away runs. Are we as good an offensive team as last year? Maybe not (hard to say yet though) but I like our pitching as much if not better.
Remember '07 which a pretty stout offensive team that was last place heading into the tournament. We won it because of pitching over the weekend.
I like this team. Doesn't mean we will win the whole thing but 10-1 on the weekends signals good things to come if we can stay healthy.
BTW - saw a blurb on Twitter where we got a lefty arm committed for next year.

We'll see. Pitching is going to keep us in most games and win us a good many. But I just wish we had more power. We don't seem to have a lot of pop (like Samford- who hits balls out like nobody's business), so it is going to come down to how many runs we can manufacture. Samford has the ability to load the bases, then POP!- they have 4 runs. We do not- we have to get guys on any way we can, steal bases, move runners over, and score them one at a time. It's a tougher process. And it's much harder to come from behind that way too.

We last played Cornell in baseball 114 years ago. http://www.cornellbigred.com/news/2016/ ... fford.aspx?

All three games (1 and 4 Sat., noon Sun.) are on SoCon Digital Network.

Split a doubleheader with Cornell. Won first game 5-1 as Matt Milburn pitched a complete game with 10 strikeouts. Cornell belted six homers in the second game to take a 12-5 win. Cornell has a guy named Cole Rutherford who hit three of them today (he spoiled Milburn's shutout bid in the ninth inning of the first game and hit two in the second one) and has four total already in just five games...now THAT guy is a bopper!

Lost the rubber-match to Cornell 6-2.

Disappointing that we could not win at least two of these. Sounds like uncharacteristic errors and lost opportunities.

It is very simple. We have had trouble scoring runs in some games. Offense looks to be our main weakness.

The team picked up a nice 8-4 win over PC in Clinton. Eliott Lance pitched very well in relief to earn the victory. Brett Hash and Alec Paradowski clubbed homers.

Lost 5-3 to Gardner-Webb to open this weekend series. Terriers play host tomorrow afternoon; then, back to G-W on Sunday.
Bounce back time...

We took a big lead and then managed to hold on and win 13-9. We dealt G-W only their third loss (18-3). I didn't realize they were that good. We are now 13-7.

I attended the first 3 innings...impressed by how loose the team was in the dugout; yet, tuned into the game and supporting the starters. Remember Coach I talking about this last year...unique.

We earned a 5-1 win Sunday afternoon to take two of three from G-W. This was a nice weekend series victory over a very good Gardner-Webb team...a good sign with conference play looming.

Now 15-7 with a W vs. Lafayette. Up next a trip to Mercer for a three game series. 22 games in and now the real season starts!! Good luck baseball Terriers! Hit 'em where they're not.

We salvaged the final game of the Mercer series after dropping the first two. Avoiding a sweep was huge; we are one game back instead of three. We were playing the preseason conference favorites on the road, so this stood to be our toughest conference series right of the bat. We have plenty of time to still be a major factor in the SoCon.
