Positive Trend W/ Stolen Bases

I've been hesitant to post…Don't want to put the "Kaibash" (sp) on our good run as of late (15 out of 19) but I just could not contain myself any longer. Anyone notice the positive trend in our stats especially in the area of stolen bases? We've lost a lot of 1 and 2 run ball games over the last several years…How do you overcome that? Manufacture some runs and pitch better. We've been aggressive on the bases and our team ERA is down a smidgeon. Put it all together and we're winning close games.

I know some of you will say our recent success is because of the competition, but give some credit to coaching on this one…we are winning ball games. So how about it Wofford Grad 94...

A big thing Coach I brought to the program when he came is improved baserunning. I know he played/coached under Mike Roberts (former UNC coach, Brian Roberts' dad) who is well known for his interesting philosophies on running the bases. Amazing how important little fundamentals - like taking an extra base; reading balls in the dirt; successfully stealing 2b/3b - is to the game.

I will say nothing and just let whatever our conference record turns out to be this year speak for itself. :-# :study:

It didn't start well. Dropped 2 to Davy this weekend. I am cautiously optimistic but won't be surprised if we continue to struggle in conference.

I suspect we will be good for our customary 22 or so wins, but not much more.

Come on guys…I did a very scientific analysis of our remaining schedule…it involved darts, lies to myself, hope and change and a very, very positive outlook on life. The result…we play 500 ball the rest of the way ending the season above 500 and playing in the tournament.

Can I get a half way enthusiastic Amen?

Thank you Ruckus…It was the "Hope and Change" line that convinced you I bet.

I will say that one of the two games I saw us play last year was won solely because we were pretty creative and aggressive on the basepaths. That is the type of baseball I personally prefer, as opposed to home run derby.

We get to go to the tournament this year.

There always hope.

I am glad the guys are working hard and finding some level of success. Our players deserve that. And Walliver is right, if we are in the tournament, we have a chance. 2007 proved that to us all.

But, since you brought up the phrase "hope and change", I'll just say that in other areas I remain hopeful for change.

Wofford will be in the tournament regardless of record with the departure of COC and the fact the other four schools leaving are not eligible to win the tournament.
