With today's win, the Dogs reached double digit wins in the SoCon and now, at 28-25, cannot finish the season with a losing record no matter what happens in the Samford series. This is significant progress for this program. Again, Coach I has finally opened my eyes.

Soft non-con schedule made this possible. Compare this years to last five years and you will see the difference. And those teams beat USC twice in four years - this bunch got clobbered.

We didn't win 10 SoCon games in the past five seasons either, so some progress is still evident. And I'll take a win over a program on our level over a loss to a big school anytime. I don't know why some of you people seem to enjoy getting whipped by major conference teams so much- in every sport. I realize we need a few such games in the money sports for large checks, but the games really don't help us get any better. They just put L's on our records.

As the prophet Huey Lewis would say:"step by step, rung by rung, climbing Jacob's ladder!"

I see it as some improvement but not necessarily a huge step. Getting swept by Furman (albeit a rain shortened series) still gripes my butt but a step it is nonetheless. A couple of wins v Sammy would be nice but that will be a very tall order.
Paradowaki's game winning bottom nine triple really helped us this weekend.
Like WG94, I'll take being blown out by USC with an improved SoCon record. We did have a fairly easy OOC schedule overall though which helped.

Not playing COC anymore helps SOCON record as well. Those games have been 3 losses every season. I'm just saying you cannot compare records from one year to the next to indicate improvement because no two season schedules are equal. The non-con schedule is much softer and next year the conference schedule will completely change with three new teams and four departures.

Considering no batting average over .282, and with several veterans (including pitchers) having sub-par years, we have had a pretty respectable season.

Took 2 of 3 over Samford, won today 6-5 and 10-2. End of regular season - finished 30-26 ... 11-15 in league.

Are we 11 and 15 or 12 and 14 in the league? Does not matter much in the long run but what is the real total?

I think you're right, we're 12-14. According to our schedule, it says 11-15, but I counted 12 league wins. The article below says 12-14 too.

This was big series win this weekend. Real improvement worthy of noting. Regardless of our respective opinions about the coach, admin, program etc, the team has worked hard and played hard. They came on really late in the year. They deserve our praise and recognition. Way to go SHDs!
