2 quality wins v worthy SoCon opponent.
Was at the game today. Team played solid defense, nice pitching, and timely hitting = win.
We looked as loose and confident as I have seen us in a while. Kudos to the team and coaches!
And get the sweep tomorrow!

Lost the final game v GSU badly (20-2) but won the series.
Now 5-12 in conference and one game up from the cellar dwelling Cadets.
BTW - Davy leading the conference in 1st place and one of the best records (24-12). How/why can they do it but we can't? They seem to win despite a severe shortage of schollies.

I am not trying to stir up trouble, but just generate discussion because I am interested in opinions on this. if we'd made a different hiring choice (you know, the one most everyone wanted) back in 2007, do you think we'd be in Davidson's shoes right now, leading the conference despite a lack of funding and a scholarship shortage?

I have done some checking and while Davy reports giving few athletic schollies, the school pledges that no student will graduate with any debt. So this means they find help where needed although it may not be "athletic" scholarships. This changes things some IMO.

I know it's a joke, but Davidson gives athletic scholarships "for need." In other words, if they "need" a QB then they find one and give him a scholarship. They have lots of money, and can fund whatever and whenever. If a coach is aggressive they may be able to figure out a way. They may dispute this, but it apparently is somewhat the way of the Davidson world.

Ivy League has been doing the same thing for decades, so I have often heard.

The thing is, Davidson was a baseball loser before this year. So did they just decide to start giving a bunch of baseball players non-athletic scholarships out of "need" this year so they could be good?

After losing soundly Fri and winning a true nailbiter yesterday, Terriers closed strong today winning 11-1 and the series. Back to back SoCon series wins.

They certainly seem to be playing better of late. Hope that trend continues.

Swept this season by a 16-30 PC team, due to poor play/losing big leads late in both games. http://athletics.wofford.edu/news/2014/ ... h=baseball

We let two get away.

Can We Complete the Sweep?

The Terriers beat UNCG 2-1 today. Tomorrow at 2:00, we'll be going for the sweep.
This would be really helpful to the Terriers & be a morale booster as we head towards the SoCon tourney.

After this series, we close out the regular season with three games vs. Samford.

It is great to see the team playing better lately and winning conference games. I think the debacle against Furman woke them up. Maybe we can go into the tourney with positive momentum. And this team has a shot at 30 wins and a shot to finish with an overall winning record...neither has happened since the early 90s when I was a student watching Mark Line's teams at Law Field. Perhaps Coach I is improving this program now. I've got to give him props.
