We are now 6-1 against Big South teams. I wish we were in that conference for baseball rather than the murderous SoCon.

The SoCon is probably one of the top 5 or 6 collegiate baseball conferences in the country.

That is a big reason why our record stinks every year. It is a nice conference for us to be in for football and basketball, but I think we'd struggle with SoCon baseball even if we had a full 11.7 scholarships. Many of the best kids would still likely pass us up for places that are more thought of as baseball schools.

Just when things were starting to go pretty well, we drop a doubleheader to a 2-9 Marist team. D'Oh!

Beat them yesterday in yet another walk off HR. Marist is not a bad team depsite the record. They had UVa on the ropes last week.
The reason we are losing is because of lack of scholarships and commitment to the program by the admin and school.
There is no way I will ever be convinced that if we were properly funded we wouldn't at least be competitive.
While a very competitive conference, playing in the SoCon should be a plus, not a minus, to us.............again, IF we had more than 4.5 schollies.

Great to see that we won Sunday. The Red Foxes have been a good team the last few years. 4.5 schollies...that is tough! Even I know that.

Alcorn State? These guys are 1-17! What a weak, weak non-con schedule the Terriers are now playing. A few years ago we played Georgia, Clemson, NC State, Duke, NM State, Vanderbilt, Pitt, Arizona State among others. This is no way to prepare for the SOCON. [-X

Judging by our SoCon records, playing those bigger programs didn't really do much good in preparing us. At least by scheduling some winnable games the team can go into conference play with some confidence. But even if this confidence doesn't translate into more SoCon wins, and it very well may not, what it will do is keep our overall record from being embarrassingly poor. If we played a tough non-conference schedule full of big schools right now we might end up with less than 10 wins. None of us fans want to see that; victories are already hard enough for our program to come by most years.

15-2, buckle my shoe. Now we play Elon. The last time we beat them the internet did not even exist. I'm not even sure if the personal computer did. It is only a matter of time before Interdonato's Infernos are sporting yet another losing record. Most likely a fairly short time.

Apparently the internet didn't exist in 2013... or the personal computer? http://athletics.wofford.edu/news/2013/ ... h=baseball

What a joke. I always read comments on internet articles to get a chuckle about the general lack of knowledge on a subject and to read the gross generalizations and misinformation spewed about. I never thought I'd read so much of that from one individual who - apparently - graduated from Wofford! It honestly disheartens me.

I thought my insight - as someone who wore the Wofford jersey - would be of some value here. But I was wrong. With that, I'm done posting on this board (or reading it). Good luck to you all.
