I know it's early and these are nonconference games, but it's hard to remain optimistic after your pitching staff has that kind of performance...it was ugly.

In a game like this, you have to wonder if the Wofford staff was tipping pitches or the pitch sequences were too predictable.

I heard that our best pitcher started? It is early yes but but already feels like this season will be similar to last several.

A very likely assessment. I'm doubtful anything is different until changes are made.

We'll never know what could have happened if Wofford had hired Tim Wallace. Based on his success at SMC, I have to believe the Wofford program would at least be competitive in the Socon.

My biggest problem thus far would be the teams fielding percentage, understandably some of this comes from guys moving positions but it is hard to win when teams have been given an extra innings worth of outs. I know Wallace has to be posted on here ten times a year but how about this for an article to read about his current players. http://www2.wspa.com/news/2012/feb/24/7 ... r-3296089/

I am very disappointed with some of the changes. Especially RF. Changes have led to the slew of errors taking place. Moving last years rightfielder to third I believe is a mistake. He was a stud in RF last year with the arm he kept displaying. RF now has no arm whatsoever. Move the guy back to RF and suddenly we have speed and defense in all three outfield positions. On a play from in deep RF the current player couldn't even get it to the cutoff. The right fielder needs to be strickly a DH. I know that coach is trying to keep him more involved in the game but it is killing us defensively. He hasn't made an error yet but we are giving up too many extra bases. With that change we suddenly become a much more athletic team also. We do have more talent this year. Coach just has to find the right lineup and get them on the field and let them begin to mesh. Face it, with this team it looks like we need to be playing a lot more small ball. Now I want to give the coach some credit, he made some good moves this weekend and managed the pitching staff much better than last year. Hopefully things will work out and these young men will give us some enjoyable baseball this year. GO TERRIERS!!!

I have to admit that I have often thought about this myself, but there's really no reason to start beating this dead horse again. Tim wasn't hired and he probably never will be, so we fans are going to have to accept what he have and hope the team can make the best of it. BTW, another dead horse here, but more funding and a few more scholarships would really be great. But that's probably not in the cards either, at least not in the near foreseeable future. We just have to hope that the players we are able to get can come together and get it done somehow. And the SoCon is a very tough baseball conference, no doubt the best of the "mid-majors, so we have our work cut out for us.
