J.D. Melton named to Freshmen All-American team

He's one of 6 Relief Pitchers on the team. Congrats!


Relief Pitchers
Kyle Weiland, Notre Dame — Weiland posted 16 saves for the Fighting Irish this season with a glistening 2.55 ERA. He was a second team Big East selection as he struck out 41 batters and walked 19 in 42 1/3 innings.

Ben Hunter, Pepperdine — An All-Freshmen West Conference selection, Hunter posted a 5-2 record, 7 saves and 2.40 ERA with 41 strikeouts and 14 walks.

Matt Daly, Hawaii — Daly posted a 6-0 record with 1 save and a 1.88 ERA with 40 strikeouts and 18 walks.

Austin Wood, Texas — Wood appeared in 35 games for the Longhorns this season and posted a 3.15 ERA with 37 strikeouts and 19 walks.

J.D. Melton, Wofford — Melton posted 7 saves this season and a 6-3 record as he fanned 28 batters.

Luke Greinke, Auburn — Greinke, an All-Freshman Southeastern Conference pick, appeared in 17 games and posted 6 saves with a 3.76 ERA.

Congrats to J.D. Melton. Keep up the good work!

Hopefully this will be the bright spot that progress can be based off of in the near future.
