Alabama coach Mark Gottfried put the finishing touches on the Crimson Tide’s 2007-08 men’s basketball schedule by securing an invitation to the sixth annual Findlay Toyota Las Vegas Classic in December.
The Crimson Tide will open play in the tournament at home against Wofford on Dec. 17 and UT Pan American on Dec. 19 before traveling to Las Vegas to play in the third round and championship round the following week.
Each of the eight teams in the tournament play four games, with the first two games on campus sites. Tournament officials announced on Thursday Alabama would be one of the host teams for the first two rounds.
Third-round games at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas on Dec. 22 include Wofford vs. Texas Southern at 2 p.m.; UT Pan American vs. Bethune Cookman at 4:30 p.m.; Alabama vs. Missouri State at 7 p.m.; and Purdue vs. Iowa State at 9:30 p.m.
The winner of the Alabama-Missouri State game plays the winner of the Purdue-Iowa State game on Dec. 23 at 9:30 p.m. in the championship round at Orleans Arena.
Tickets for the Tuscaloosa games can be purchased through the Alabama ticket office at a later date. Tickets for the final two rounds in Las Vegas go on sale Saturday by calling the Orleans Arena at 702-284-7777 or going online at

At least we'll have some extra spending money in our pockets to go along with another losing record.

Wisconsin is a return favor to Wisconsin AD who was assistant at USC and helped RJ, a friend, get USC football/basketball games. He called and needed a game; we gave it to him. Word is, Coach Young was not in favor of it for the obvious reasons.
