In addition to UNC and Kansas, I have heard we also play Stanford.

I’m guessing we will probably see several Johnson and Wales type opponents to balance out these power teams. But I hope not. Let’s play some fellow mid-majors instead.

These choices in opponents (and their willingness to play us) shows respect for where we are. These power teams know we will have a good team with a solid RPI and they love scheduling games against the kinds of team they may face in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. It might affect our record a little, but that only matters so far since we have to win the SoCon either way to get to the Big Dance. I'm happy for it because it breeds a fearlessness that we will need if we make it that far and it will also give us (and Magee) valuable exposure.

I like it! A nice mix of power schools, mid-majors, and tune-up games to get the team ready for SoCon play.

I am pretty sure we have never scheduled so many strong opponents in one season. Should enhance our reputation and get us ready for the conference schedule.

I expect us to acquit ourselves well and, who knows, .... We have a level of talent and depth that should make us highly competitive.

Not too many years ago it would have been unthinkable for a team like UNC to come to Wofford for any sporting event especially basketball. But here we are hosting the Tar Heels. We have come a long way from our NAIA days and even from our first year of Division 1. Go Terriers !!!! https://woffordterriers.com/news/2018/9 ... espn2.aspx

Overall the schedule isn't bad, but I would rather play a few Big South or A-Sun teams instead of some of the warm-up teams that frequently don't give us a good work-out.

My guess is that a lot of smaller schools don't really want to play us. They don't get paid and don't want another L on the record. By the way, when do our guys begin practice?

I think most of the A-Sun and Big South schools believe they can beat us and that they would actually like to play us and get their shot. Sometimes I wonder if maybe we’re scared to lose to them and would rather have a guaranteed win...even though non D1 games don’t really count for anything. USC-Upstate has begged us for a game for years. PC would rekindle on old rivalry and put butts in seats. Gardner-Webb is another very local team never on the schedule that would love a shot at us. We play these two in football. 9Winthrop could be a good rivalry. What about SC State? We just like scheduling these non-D1 games for some reason...maybe to get everyone playing time and/or to balance out all the tough road games we have. But we all know that these games definitely aren’t good for fan interest and attendance though and they don’t really make our team much better in my opinion. I’d like to see an all D1 schedule or at the most one local D2 game like Newberry, Lander, Queens in Charlotte or Limestone. Keep the NAIA and Christian college teams and cooking schools off the schedule- a program like ours has no business playing them.
