Any word on Brooks’ status? We miss his defense and rebounding!

With Cam picking up silly fouls we are effectively playing the second half without two starters. This team has to get to the basket and create fouls. We're being outshot 2-1 at the line. Where is the Wofford toughness?
By the way, I have a friend who is an NBA scout. They all know about Fletcher. Cam turned heads against UNC, but his lack of consistency really hurts him.

Guarded better in the second half. Ball handling so so.

Silly fouls all over the place and very sloppy with the ball. Glad we shot it better in the 2nd half because it was getting ugly. Samford actually made us look like a good rebounding team. I’m not sure they had more than 1 shot on a possession in the 2nd half?

We got a surprising lift from the bench. Although they didn't score a lot of points, the bench got 14 rebounds and made a difference. Fletcher had a great box score, with 27 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. We still aren't guarding very smartly, leaving the Samford big scorers open way too often. However, our guys took care of business the second half, and made some great passes to open men for both layups and shots. With Furman losing pretty big to UNCG at home they will be gunning for us Saturday. Big game.

Glad we played tougher in the second half because we certainly needed the increased intensity after Samford went on a run. And I agree with others that the inconsistencies of our bigs is what is holding our team back. When Cam/Pegram dominate like they're able to, this is a 30 point game. When they foul indiscriminately and don't score, we have to sweat it out. I've wondered if MY might consider adopting the UVA pack line defensive model. UVA limits transition opportunities and 3 point opportunities and is so efficient on offense with their shooters where they can play a 4 around 1 style. Obviously too late to implement this season but perhaps during the offseason? Has anyone else had ideas how we can improve our defense?

Aluma made a difference around the basket, especially on D, but he needs to work on hitting his shots up close ... misses too many.

13- Samford actually did a little of that. When they shot on the offensive end their players immediately turned and headed up the floor on defense. Then they tried to defend the 3 point line, but forgot we have more than one three point shooter. They had three pretty good players. I don't see the transition game as our strength, although this team can run if given the opportunity. In the seccond half we penetrated and opened the perimeter. It's no secret that an inside out game opens the floor to today's long range shooters. Without an inside game the opponents can just guard the three point line and fairly well kill the scoring.
If, in fact, Derrick is gone for the season we have to find inside players willing to rebound and box out. Brooks gave us a lot of that and really made a difference.

Fletcher also had 3 steals and 1 block. And I loved all the starters scoring in double figures.

TS tweeted that Brooks has a wrist injury and may be done for his year/career. That is really too bad if true as he had really found his niche and was a major contributor to that winning streak a few weeks back. We will definitely miss his rebounding, defense and overall toughness. Hopefully, he can make it back for the stretch run/tourney.
