Samford (3-2 SoCon, 7-11 overall) is coming off an 81-50 thumping at Mercer, so they will be looking to rebound against us. Road games are always tough to get and this one will be no exception. Hopefully we can keep the momentum we built in our four game home stand that climaxed with our big win against Furman going.

I believe their big man, Wyatt Walker and Point Guard Christen Cunningham have been out for several games. Not sure if they will be back against us but they are both very good players.

Sure is quiet. I thought that with a lot of folks snowed in we would have some chatter. I guess the team got to Birmingham OK yesterday and that everything is on go? This basketball season is beginning to look like football, in that every game is seemingly more important than the last. Seeding for Asheville will be critical.

I was wondering the same thing about travel. I assume the team got there yesterday.

We are a 4 point favorite on the road, down from 4.5 yesterday. Samford money has been going down. But I think we are the better team and if we play our game we will be fine. It won’t be easy, but I think we get the job done in the end.

Neither Cunningham nor Walker is mentioned in Samford's pre-game article. Don't know if their injuries are more long-term or not. Still better be ready to strap 'em on. Samford has always played us tough in B'ham.

While our squad is playing, Furman and ETSU are also playing. It will be interesting to see how Furman comes back from their loss to us, and whether ETSU is the beast they appear.

Up 49-41 at the half. Played a little sloppy to keep them in it but we are better. Fletcher with 18. The announcers are full of praise for us.

Referees are keeping Sammy in the game. We are clearly the better team. Getting a little sloppy. Up 83-79 with 4:40 to play.

93-89 win. Heckuva game. Samford played lights out second half; they are tough at home.

As has been the case a lot this year, a lot of ticky tack fouls on our guys in the second half. BUT...we still are having a hard time stopping the dribble drive and have for several years now. Storm struggled quite a bit on defense tonight as he just could not prevent dribble penetration. Definitely need to tighten up on defense. Brooks was great tonight (12-13 boards) and probably should have been guarding their PG but never did. Lots of contributions offensively although we got awfully sloppy at times and we threw up some crazy shots. However, we actually saw a dunk out of Fletcher at the end to ice the game (Nevermind his other 29 pts). First time I have seen him dunk at Woco!

We couldn't figure out how to play defense against their guards. They played a great second half. Once again our guys figured out a way to win a close one. The ETSU/Furman game was a tractor pull with ETSU winning by hitting a shot near the buzzer. It wasn't a pretty game at all. ETSU is a tall team and pretty gritty. Furman losing a home game is probably good for us. Hate to see ETSU run away with the league, however. We have to take care of business, regardless. Glad to see Fletch get his stroke back. Cam has got to give us some rebounds. Matt Pegram gave us some good minutes, but we need more help in the paint. REMEMBER, however, any road win is a good one.

Fletch confirmed during post game radio interview that was his FIRST dunk in a game. New scoring weapon!
