My ESPN app says that Wofford only has a 17.1% chance of winning this game. I don’t know how exactly they arrived at that figure, but I gotta think we’ve got a little better chance than that.

UNCA’s best player from 2 years ago (Rousey) is now starting for Marquette (Coach Wojo) and averaging over 20 points a game. Hails from Lexington Va and is only 5’11” but handles it and shoots the lights out.
UNCA was his only offer coming out of high school and Wojo recruited him right off UNCA’s campus.
Same hung happened to PC’s best player when Auburn came calling 2 years ago.

Speaking of PC, I sure hope that the Blue Hose do not develop some great basketball program now that they no longer have to pay for football schollies. With their terrible facility though, I doubt it.

I've thought the same thing, but I seriously doubt it. They didn't have the money to hang where they were and their travel budget is going up so I would imagine that the scholarship savings will cover the new expenses and maybe elevate them to average resources at best. Coach Kerns has them playing better and his ability plus being in the Big South might help them be competitive, but I don't see them being world beaters. That being said, they were very competitive in D-II during the early 90's. You and I were at WoCo during the same timeframe, 94, so I know you remember some of those games.

Good point about PC. Without football, many resources will be freed up for basketball, and maybe soccer, tennis, and golf. It is a viable model. Sort of what Davidson does,

We gave up tonight in second half. This team is really struggling. Can’t defend and can’t get shots. Looks like we are destined for disappointing season.

Regarding PC in the early 90s, I still shudder to think about Bret Jones....wasn't that his name? Good grief, he could play.

That second half today was about as bad a half of Wofford basketball as I have seen in a long, long time. UNC-A shot the lights out, and it was a little freaky. But Wofford just wasn't at all good. Looked like way too many easy shots given up. Some breakdowns in basic stuff. I don't know....it was not pretty.

This team seems to not have much flow or any real identity. I do think there is potential....but a few guys have got to figure out what's going to be the state of affairs.

Not much I can add to the last coupld of posts, except that is was so bad I had to turn it off. They are truly searching for some kind of chemistry. We are weak at the point, but our bigs can't seem to figure out how to stay on the floor without committing silly fouls. I, too, think we have talent. It just needs to be melded into a team. I thought I had seen the worst second half performance possible until I watched UNC later last evening.

The major difference is that Davidson has resources, PC doesn't.

They had a guy that I went to High School with named Ronnie Cannon as well. That guy was like Lee Skinner before Lee Skinner was Lee Skinner.

Maybe this will be a year like 2009 where a group of parts becomes a team down the stretch and sets the table for growth towards championships.

I'm sure Coach Young sees the same things and they will work to address them. The hallmark of every one of his teams has always been hard-nosed defense. No matter what we do on offense, I cannot imagine that he will let the team slide for long with anything less than all out effort on that end of the floor.

My wonderful mother always tells me “if you can’t say something nice then just don’t say anything”. It’s time I started heeding that advice.
