South Carolina in season opener

Does anyone think we have a chance to win this game? After the preseason fiasco at G-W, I must admit I am not optimistic. I am also not big on bringing in the Gamecocks to JRIS. I’d feel the same way if it was Clemson visiting. There will be a sellout crowd or close to it, but most of them will be clad in garnet and black. It is almost like having a road game at home. I wish we were playing someone like Florida or Alabama instead- someone few people around Spartanburg have a rooting interest in.

It's already a sellout game, and I would guess most of them won't be Garnet and Black because it's been sold out for weeks/months and I doubt more of their fans were as proactive as we were.

The athletic department went to great lengths to give Terrier Club members and alumni the first crack at tickets, so hopefully it will be a big crowd favoring the home team. If not, the fault will 100% be with our alumni.

The game is on ESPN3, Nov. 10, 7 p.m. I hope we play with effort and smarts.

I don't think there will be very many Gamecock fans there. I've gotten calls from several looking for tickets and they say they can't find them. And of course I say I can't either.

Also, I understand there was another scrimmage Saturday with a much different outcome than GW.

I can't wait for Friday to get here!

It's worth noting that this is not the same SC team that made the Final Four last year. They lost Thornwell among others. Though that FF appearance should make their fans wan to show up more.

I am very happy that:

1) measures were taken to keep Gamecock fans from taking over the gym
2) we have had a better scrimmage than the G-W one I read about here

And yes, this is not the same SC team from a year ago, they will be rebuliding again.

All those things said, I still say we will be the underdog. But we have a shot if we play well.

We beat UNCC Saturday (UNCCC has a NBA quality PG). We scrimmaged Augusta St Sunday but I haven’t heard results. Split halfs with Belmont earlier in pre season.

The game will be televised locally in the Upstate on WMYA TV 40 (which may mean an ESPN3 blackout here)

Is there another live feed besides ESPN? We planned our whole evening around watching this game!
