Great summary dude.

Parenthetically, Tubby Smith, dismissed at Memphis in favor of alum Hardaway, just signed a five year deal at his alma mater High Point. I have always liked Tubby ... classy and very successful. Good choice by HP.

Tubby Smith is a great coach. I look to see High Point in the NCAAs sooner rather than later.

HP has one letter of intent signed and three open slots for 2018. They have announced a new 100 million dollar plus sports facility that includes a basketball arena.

We have offered PG Ryan Larson from St. Paul Mn. Cretin Durham Hall High. 6’0 170. Caught a lot of attention in state playoffs where he had some really good games. Plays high level AAU. Very speedy with ball. Has an offer from PC.

I really really like Ryan Larson. Great savvy, attitude, and skills. He is from Cretin Hall, the same high school as former Terrier C.J. Newman, and moved and transferred there from Braham, Noah Dahlman's high school. Would be a great Terrier.

Interesting stuff. In video clips, he looks similar to Storm. Maybe not quite as quick, but close -- and maybe two inches taller.

Is point guard Wofford's greatest need at this point? I thought Storm did a fine job this season. I'd like see Coach Young sign an athletic wing. Same time, point guard depth could be an issue, and maybe this kid can play some shooting guard, as well. It's hard to have too many guys who can shoot and handle the ball well.

Good points. With Goodwin and Hickert being available next year, having another smart versatile player like Larson who can penetrate makes sense. I sense some toughness in him too.

What's the word on Hickert? Do the coaches think he can help? He's pretty tall, can shoot, seems to have a good feel for the game (based on video highlights, which maybe don't tell you that much). It seems like he could possibly be one of those versatility, inside-outside, players who can make a real difference. Is he athletic enough to hang with SoCon guys?

I have heard nothing about how he has done in practice during his RS year. However his HS film and stats are very solid and he excelled in a strong league. I think he is capable of more than holding his own; he is about Dahlman’s size and in some ways reminds me of him. Practicing every day agains Jackson, Pegram and our other big guys must have helped him.

Lowery is another player with some size and good stats from a strong HS league. It would be great if he could step up his aggression, awareness, and physicality next year, esp. on D and on the boards. He has the ability ... it is his time.

Looks like we finally have a commitment in the 2018 class.
Mn PG Ryan Larson is a Terrier per his AAU Pulley Hoops.

Thanks, Ruckus. I'm a little surprised Wofford went after a point guard. I hope all is well with Murphy and Theme-Love. But if Larson can play some at shooting guard, that could be valuable. Never a bad thing to have good ballhandlers and shooters out there. In video clips, he looks like a good player. Of course, that's what video clips are for. Still, he seems to have talent.

I continue to hope we might see the team bring an athletic wing or post player...

As more and more zone defense is played there is a need to find penetrators. That means taller guards who can handle the ball and go against the big guys to open the perimeter will be prized recruits. Wofford next year should have an inside and outside scoring threat, but the slasher who can get through the zone and then score or dish is something we really need.
