I watched it. It was a pretty sloppy game on both sides. Lots of turnovers and fouls. We stayed close all day, but could not sustain a real run to get ahead. ETSU is definitely more athletic and got a lot of 2nd and 3rd chances. We struggled against the full court press again. We also had a few key defensive breakdowns that let them penetrate too easily. Not a bad effort, but definitely not yet to the level we have come to expect.

Jan. 25 7 p.m. ESPN3 at home vs. UNCG. We will need to play very well; UNCG has its best team in years.

How did UNCG go from being so bad to so good?

93-74 Terriers defeat the #1 team in SoCon standings. NICE WIN!

Thom and Mark commented it was a solid win; several technical fouls called. Saw Eric get called for 1 which was "ticky tack."
Look forward to comments from those in attendance or who watched the entire game. Thanks.

It was a solid win. Strange game in that neither team was in bonus in the first half and both teams in the bonus midway through the second. Ended up helping us out quite a bit as we made just about every free throw in the second half. Never thought I would say this about a Wofford team but we are 8th in country in team FT% at over 78%. Could help us win some tight games down the stretch. Still a lot of possessions go deep in shot clock and we scramble to get off a shot. Fortunately, we hit some big shots (Cam and Sawvell especially) as the shot clock expired. Defense a little better but still too much penetration but Baldwin is a tough matchup for anybody. Pegram did a nice job tonight and is starting to look a little more comfortable. Does anyone know the status of Brooks? In street clothes for last several games. Theme-Love looked overmatched tonight and we could use Derrick's ball handling and defense.

I was at the game. Crowd was a little light tonight, the student section too. UNCG did not look like a first place team but I'll give our team credit for that. Sawvell had a nice rebound game after the last one. Fletcher hit some NBA threes. Cam was good, Pegram contributed a lot. And I love seeing Garcia with the ball and at the FT line. Go Terriers!

I had to miss the game tonight, but snuck out of a dinner party several times to check the score. It seemed that we were in front most of the game. Big win against the league leaders. We now go on the road for some important games. Need to do some real work.

I concur with Hobo.

UNC-G didn't look all that great. However, Wofford probably had something to do with that. Better defensively, seems to me, and really strong at times on the offensive side.

Fletcher made a couple of amazing outside shots late in the game. Hobo says NBA 3s, which they were, but also gutsy shots that were guarded. He's something else.

Garcia was terrific. Wofford will surely miss him next year, I figure. Too soon to start a conversation about all that, I suppose. But, man, he is the guy on this team.

Inside guys were all good offensively -- Jackson had some very nice plays, Sawvell was solid, Pegram is coming along/ made some good plays.

Hoover didn't shoot great, but I think he is a player....seems aggressive and confident. I think he'll be good. Other freshmen didn't play a ton. Theme-Love played some. He had a little trouble with the press but does some good things. The other guys didn't play a whole lot.

UNCG came out trying to drop some very intense defense on us, thinking we would fold (that has been UNCG strong suit). We did not but rather fought back hard. That fed our getting some good shots.
Second, we had 24 assists and only 7 turnovers; truly outstanding. Garcia had twelve assists, no turnovers.
Pegram is looking much more confident. http://woffordterriers.com/news/2017/1/ ... esday.aspx

I couldn't make the game but I saw where J Tucker and Lowery didn' play. Plus Brooks out. Anybody got any insight on them? Were they dressed?

UNCG was really big and strong across their starting lineup. They were 91% from the FTL which helped keep them in the game. We gave up way too many easy layups through dribble penetration which seems to have been a problem all year. With that said, I think the key last night was the play of Ryan Sawvell and Pegram. Makes a huge difference when they play well and last night they were awesome. Didn't hurt that #20 of UNCG got in foul trouble early collecting his 4th with about 15 minutes left. Fletch and EG played their game and EG was so solid at the line. Foul him and it is nearly automatic. Hopefully, the team is turning the corner and building momentum at the right time. Even though the crowd was a bit sparse it sure helps to play at home but now a three game road trip. Critical to win at least 2 of those and hopefully all three!

A convincing win over the best team in the conference thus far has to boost our confidence and hopefully ignite our passion to start a big run. I for one am really looking forward to the game here in Charleston next Thurs. We owe the bellhops one after we let them sneak out an OT win at our place.
