Big Week in Basketball

Postby boulder3m on Mon Feb 08, 2016 9:00 am

This next 7-8 days in huge in our guys' season. We play three straight home games and then at UNCG next Monday for a four games in a week streak. With the exception of our home closer with Furman, this is the week that will make or break our season. That was a very good road win at Samford Saturday, and puts us in a position to control our seeding in the tournament. Chatty is obviously stronger than anyone in the conference, but they lost to Furman and showed they can be beaten. If our guys get on a run this week it can carry us into the tournament in a strong position.

Good start by the Terriers, shooting the ball well.

I would also like to see Furman and Mercer lose some more games.

3:13 left in the half. Terriers up 41-25, are shooting 11-13 from 3-point land. Fletcher has 18, EG has 12, Spencer has 0 points and has only taken 3 shots. WOW!

92-60; 17-21 from 3 - point land! McGee 34 points.

Our subs played great at the end. Perez looks like Cousy.

Brooks and Allen need to work hard on their ball handling, man to man D, offense, and consistency. The talent is there, waiting to be developed; more effort, practice, focus, and urgency.
Pegram can work on his flexibility and get leaner/stronger/more agile; LOTS of promise.

Pretty gaudy stats for Fletcher-really for the whole team. We would hope they can shoot it like that all the time. In the league, after our blowout nothing really happened. Mercer took Chatty to OT, but got beat; so, the truth is that nothing has changed. We have the chance to make the run for second place. The game with Mercer Thursday is HUGE. Remember, they had the largest crowd ever in their place for their one point squeaker over us a few weeks ago. It's time for payback. I hope we can stuff the BenJo Thursday with a wild bunch of students and Wofford fans and help our guys bring their best.

Just saw a tweet that said Wofford set a NCAA record tonight for highest percentage, 81%, 3 point attempts made. This is for all division 1 teams in the history of NCAA basketball, and was for games with 20 or more 3 point attempts.

That first half was the most incredibly display of shooting I have ever seen in life! There was a 7 or 8 minute stretch there where I honestly could not believe what I was seeing. Can't wait for Thursday!!!

I am still over the moon on this. I watched but really wish I had been there in person. I do plan to attend Thursday's games.

Sure hope there is more enthusiasm on campus than on the board for this game tonight against Mercer. It is really THE key game for us until the tournament. The past few games with Mercer have been classics, and this should be no exception.

Saw Mercer play on tv last week; pretty talented and long. But we can get'em. 7:00, ESPN3.

It's sometimes tough to follow up a really great night shooting the ball, but hopefully that performance boosted everyone's confidence. I would expect Mercer to try to clamp down on McGee and our other 3 point shooters, so hopefully we can spread them out and take advantage of that. Go Dogs!
