I like his looks. Good ball handler, basketball IQ, competition level; pure point guard. Accepted a scholly from us; had five other offers, including ECU and Chatt. Hopefully he can also play some lockdown D and keep guards from penetrating. Decent size. That makes five new recruits in this class, which is really something.

From this it appears that Ryan Sawvell may not be returning, since he has finished five years of undergraduate education. I would not be surprised if he went someplace else in a graduate program to finish his last year of eligibility. If so, we wish all the best to Ryan; he worked hard for us and had some great games this year; fine player, young man and student.

LD, good point on the schollie issue. I thought he had been given an extra year. Losing Sawvell will hurt us for sure. He came on during the season. Can anybody confirm this?
I can't tell if Love can play. Chatty offer assuages my concern somewhat.

I thought adding Love brought us to 13 scholarship players, including Sawvell. Am I missing something?

Hard for me to gauge not knowing who is on or for how much. Lost 2 schollie guys to graduation and I am assuming we are adding 4 as freshmen.

We lost three to graduation in CJ, Justin, and Spencer. It was my understanding that only 11 scholarships were used last year. That would leave five available for incoming freshman.

Also, I have heard no mention of Ryan not returning. I sure hope he comes back. I would think he would be a major contributor next season.

So we played 3 short last year? Jeez....
How/why does that ever happen?

Played two short. We were one short, then McKnight transferred.

Forgot about McKnight; he would have helped some.
Lots of talent returning and coming in.
Any word on Stumpe and his back issues?

Current scholarship breakdown:

Seniors: Eric Garcia, Jaylen Allen, Ryan Sawvell
Juniors: Derrick Brooks
Sophomores: Fletcher Magee, Trevor Stumpe, Cameron Jackson, Matthew Pegram
Freshmen: Nathan Hoover, Justin Tucker, Dishon Lowery, Kevon Tucker, Donovan Love

That makes 13 players for 13 slots and should allow Ryan to return for his final year.

Great news, sorry for the false alarm. Ryan should play a huge role next year.

Anyone heard whether Cam Jackson has resolved any leg/health issues?

Last I heard, Cam was actually fairly healthy towards the very end of the season but was held out to maintain his redshirt rather than waste a year of eligibility for only a few games.
