That's what being a college basketball coach is all about- not only winning games but also making a profound difference in the lives of young men. I love this program and Wofford College beyond words.

Well said. I had chills listening to that and to the announcement of 3 guys on the 1st team All Tournament, plus Tournament MVP. Unreal for a little school from Spartanburg. Well done men. True SHD's

I got tired of the announcers. They repeated a bunch of the same stuff over and over, probably because they knew so little about the two teams playing. But I eventually turned off the sound and listened to Mark and Thom. They kept saying the game is David vs. Goliath, Furman is the 10 seed and it's amazing their in this game with 21 losses, Karl Cochran is our go to guy (like no one else should ever shoot it), and most annoying of all everytime we got a basket inside they mentioned the injury to Chris Acox (sp?). So I wasn't impressed.

Yeah, the announcers were lacking what to say. The one guy said about 5 times late in the game that it was time for Cochran to step up and he knew it because he saw him do it last year. I'm a huge Cochran fan, but c'mon, say something else.

Game story and box; video coming later probably. http://woffordterriers.com/news/2015/3/ ... ath=mbball
We won it on the boards and at the FT line. Furman shot an amazing 60% from the 3-point line. CJ had game-high 8 boards.

Furman's game plan was somewhat like it was last Saturday. They decided they couldn't beat us conventionally, so they devised a plan to let their bigger guys move outside and shoot threes. If they hit they're in the game, and if they don't they get blown out. Two games in a row they hit an amazing percentage of their three pointers when they had to. In hindsight it was a great plan. If you wanted to try this in Vegas you would put your money on double zero and let it go!

Parenthetically, I suspect our win puts Chatt in the NIT. If Furman had won tonight, Chatt would have been in one of the lesser tourneys.

Boulder, I agree about their offensive game plan; their defensive plan was good as well, making it hard for us to get good looks.

Very proud of Wofford tonight. They dealt with everything and kept coming back. Tough as nails performance. Furman is certainly disappointed, but they have a lot to be proud of as well. That core group will win a lot of games in the next few years.

I disagree on the double zero/gamble game plan by FU. It was really well conceived: isolate Ferrara down low and ball screens for Sibley and Croom. When we helped the ball defender, kick to open man (Beans) who knocked the 3 down. FU is very talented and will only get better. Watch them next year.
I really liked Medved calling TO to stop our late 2nd half run and then going 1-3-1 zone out of it. Took us out of our rhythm and momentum. Changed the flow of the game.
I thought we should have isolated Beans defensively with our bigs more (we tried some and they doubled on the post entry when we did that created some space). With Ferrara in foul trouble all night, we did a really poor job taking advantage of it. We are really lucky to have won with them shooting 60% from the 3. Rebounds were the difference (which I predicted) along with FTs.
Thank goodness for Skinner and Garcia (and Collins) because Cochran and Gordon were non-existant for the most part offensively. Swinton really played well but to me the unsung hero of the game was Neumann. His defense of Ferrara late and RBs were critical.

Neumann had a big block late which was huge.

67 is more than 64 and that's all I know

Nice math, YT-glad to know that there is still a math dept at Wofford! My double zero comment was that they decided to gamble on the threes, and for 80% of the game they made more than if they were shooting in their own gym. Most coaches would assume they couldn't do it all night, and that's what Mike did-and they couldn't as it turned out. Furman's shooting percentage on threes in the final 5 minutes of the game at their place and the first 30 minutes of the tournament had to have been over 80%. That is truly amazing.

Article and video from Greenville. Mike Young had some (justifiably) respectful things to say about the Paladins.
