FU is on a roll and will be a formidable opponent. Still I think this is a better draw for us. We had two very close games with Mercer and it is hard to win 3 games like that.

Furman just proved what can happen when it all comes together at the right time. Regardless of what we think of them, what they have done is an amazing feat. Our guys need to come out angry and serious. We've come too far...
Tonight's game was a methodical beatdown of WCU. We need nothing less tomorrow night. Didn't we Black Out Furman earlier?

I think we took Furman lightly last Saturday and they had a lot of luck to boot. But now we are playing for the Big Dance, so no chance that we'll come out flat. Furman is also unlikely to hit a bunch of miracle threes again. And we are the more rested team. I just don't think our guys are going to let Furman keep them out of the NCAAs. But still, anything could happen...

By the way, tonight was our 27th win, which sets a school record.

I would like to agree, but I fear Mercer fans had similar thoughts last night.

If we come out and play the way we are capable of, like we have the past two nights, we will win. If we don't, like neither Chatty nor Mercer did against them, then we give FU the chance to beat us, like they beat them.

Furman is definitely the surprise of the tournament and they'll no doubt be gunning for us. Wofford should win on paper, but if you go by "paper", we probably have one SoCon title instead of three. Furman hasn't won one since 1980 so motivation will be high on their end. That being said, while this matchup does carry the possibility of a Wofford vs. Furman meltdown, I am glad Mercer didn't get a shot at the title. I respect what they are doing but their attitude and self-generated hype is annoying. I'm not sure which was more obnoxious, the "Heart over Hype" shirts last week or the "Mercer Destiny" shirts tonight. Just play the game and let that do the talking.

Plus, Mercer coach Bob Hoffman is a major league crybaby. It's one thing to complain about a call every now and then but ever daggum call? Come on... Glad to see they lost for that reason, among others.

Good draw for us. Not sure there could be a better draw for us, at least on paper. That said, fear the team with the hot hand and FU certainly has the hot hand. Plus add in the Wofford/FU rivalry which as much as some FU faithful want to downplay (acknowledging it would only put us in their lofty stratosphere and that can't happen) is very real.
We will have to play very well to win but then we would have to do that regardless of who we drew in the champ game. Let's get it on.......

Amen, let's bring the wood! We need to keep throwing fresh bodies at them on D to contest shots, control the boards, limit our fouls and just do our thing on O.....If we get up early, I would think FU's adrenaline will start wane and their legs will realize just how tired they are after 4 straight games. KC has been a little quiet of late, and I feel a big performance from him coming on....just sayin'

Going a little Ben Crenshaw here on you, but "I got a feeling"....

Let's go you SHD's

We need to pound it inside and limit their 3s. If we let Croom, Sibley and Davis get good looks and uncontested shots, we are in trouble.
I love the Crenshaw reference but I believe the team that controls the boards and wins the rebound battle, wins this game.
Throw out the records and 2 head-to-head match ups; this is a brand new season tonight. We need to bring our best to win. If we do, I like our chances.

No time to have a slow start. I hope our guys get their boot on Furman's neck early and never let up. Tonight is the night to make a statement and prove a point.

At it's core, tonight's game is two things: 1) the SoCon championship, and 2) Wofford vs. Furman. If you wear Old Gold & Black and can't get up for both of those two things, then there's a problem.

My (unprofessional) diagnosis for this condition would be pretty simple: death.

The Wofford-Furman game just got talked about on ESPN2's Pardon The Interruption. The question was whether you should root for Cinderella Furman or Wofford, the team that "deserves" the tourney bid. Both guys said they were rooting for Wofford. One guy called us the Wofford Paladins, but the other guy said "that's Furman." Neither guy knew Wofford's mascot. I got a good chuckle out of the whole segment.
