Chattanooga

The Mocs have been struggling a bit lately. They barely got by Furman, needing OT, and then they lost at Western Carolina. But the Mocs are still very tough. It took a Superman effort by Karl Cochran to propel us to a 68-64 come from behind victory at Chatty last month. And speaking of struggling, we did a lot of that in the second half up at VMI Saturday afternoon as we surrendered a 20 point lead, and that has to be cause for concern, especially since we have given up big leads on quite a few occasions now. But ultimately it was a win, and a another win vs. Chatty would put the Mocs three games behind us and virtually eliminate them from the regular season title. And we also need to ensure we remain at least two games up on Mercer, whom we still have to face at their place. To win we will likely need 40 minutes of great defense leading to some easy basket opportunities and some timely outside shooting. It will be a tough game and the Mocs will come in a very determined if not desparate team. We should have a big crowd as plenty of students should be on hand and we are gaining more and more support from the community. I predict over 3,000 butts in seats for this important SoCon game. GO TERRIERS!

We will get Chattanooga's best shot and we better be ready. Having this game at home is huge for us, but bear in mind last season we narrowly lost at Chattanooga by a point and then a week later played them in Spartanburg and lost handily. The Terriers have six games remaining and three of them are truly big games (this one, then the ones in Cullowhee and Macon).

Big man Justin Tuoyo for the Mocs is a touch matchup.

Tuoyo has come a long way from where he was in our first matchup with him. He's a great defender and has really added an offensive element to his game as the season has progressed. We need Skinner to matchup well with him and guard without fouling. Our big men Skinner, Gordon and Neuman need to take it strong to the basket and fight through the contact. This is not a game we can play soft and expect to win. The current line has us favored by 6.5 points but that seems mighty generous, even at the Ben. Gotta bring the intensity tonight- hopefully the students come out in force. The BenJo should be rocking tonight!

I dare say they will press us. That and some poor stretches shooting the ball from 3 and the FT line have been our Achilles heel. Hopefully, we are firing on all cylinders tonight. Let's go you SHD's

Chattanooga has not been a team to press, from what I've seen.

tuoyo destroyed us in the first half of our last game but we played him much better in the second half. That was pretty indicative of the game.

The Benjo is gonna be rocking tonight.

I am down in the Caribbean, and hope that I will not be blocked from watching online. I will try to tune in. I would think you guys will be rocking, and that those wanting to be assured of a seat will arrive early. It would be great if this became a regular deal-that many season tickets would be sold and all others would have to arrive early. Maybe we will become like K...ville- but instead be Youngs-town! Students would have to camp out and wait for tickets!

Well, we were losers. And this game makes me greatly concerned about our chances of getting back to the NCAAs. We didn't really play badly. But we still got beat. There was no doubt who the tougher, stronger team was. Maybe we are just too soft to win the tournament because we were really handled inside. Unfortunately, this was the last game for me in person. I am starting a nuclear outage Monday. It's depressing I went out like this. And Cullowhee is a tough place to try and bounce back. Mike Young has never won there. We will not be favored in this one either, at least to in my eyes

They played their best defense of the year, and we played our worst offense. There were some shots that would usually fall for us, but not tonight. We need to refocus

In the words of Aaron Rodgers RELAX. Every team has a bad night. It happens. We're going to be fine.

It kind of helps that every other favored team in the conference lost tonight too.

94 we could not throw it in the ocean from the breaking waves tonight. Bad game. Really do not care about this loss. All that really matters is winning socon tournament championship. Will not go to big dance without it

I was only able to watch part of the game, toward the end. Looked to me like we simply had a bad night and I was surprised that we still had a chance to win shooting and rebounding so atypically poorly. Chatt is good and just outplayed us this time, but we will do better. What really matters, of course, is the conference tourney.
