I just caught the last 7 minutes on ESPN3. Mercer didn't score a point while I was tuned in. The Terriers were in trouble against a good team and they buckled down on defense, didn't get rattled, played smart and escaped with a big win. This team has a ton of heart. These are the type games we will play in March, so it is good to perform well under those circumstances now.

And a big shout out to those in attendance. The crowd was active and loud. The ESPN3 commentators referred to Benjamin Johnson Arena, Wofford's home court, as the best atmosphere in the SoCon. Way to go Terriers, and way to go Terrier Nation.

Wow! I was thinking we weren't going to be able to pull this one out there for a while! But with a smothering defense and a little luck (which you have to have sometimes), we notched another huge conference win. Justin Gordan with the three ball...awesome! Tonight had to be one of the best atmospheres ever in the BenJo. The Wofford community was asked for its help in supporting the team tonight and boy did we ever respond! I like to think the home crowd was also a part of this win! But we don't get a whole lot of time to savor in it. We have to go to Johnson City Thursday night and face a Bucs team with payback on its mind in a very tough venue. There ae no easy ones.

Yes, what a game! And a great atmosphere. I think it was better than the Iona game.

Agreed. Standing room. Big win over the best team I have seen is play this year. Mercer is athletic and strong. It's obvious they have a weight room in Macon. They play much like we do except they rushed a few shots down the stretch. For us to lose rebounding and loose ball statistics AND Cochran to go 0-12 in 3s and we still win is nothing short of remarkable. Testament to our guys and coaches. They played their guts out tonight.

Cochran is definitely our #1 scoring guy. But this team proves they can win even when he's not having his best night. If he can put it together and get hot down the stretch, we'll "level up" as it were.

I'm not surpried that Karl had a tough night. Mercer is an excellent defensive team and they understandably focused a good deal on Cochran. Karl will have better nights. The important thing is that other guys, mainly Spencer, Lee, Eric, and Justin, picked him up just enough.

And CJ had another great night on the boards.

Just arrived home. It was well worth the trip down. I arrived around 6:40 and realized right away that my fears of a sparse crowd were unfounded. Parking lot was filled, and at the BenJo a big crowd in line for tickets. The Mercer crowd was enthusiastic and well behaved. Can't say that for their coach. The refs put up with his whining on every call way too long. at a timeout in the second half the lead official went over and told him no more, and after that he cut out his little act. Actually it was fun to watch, because it was so ridiculous. Karl Cochran played a GREAT defensive game. His blocks, steals, and general defensive game altered a lot of what Mercer wanted to do. He was a beast in the second half. Regardless of his scoring, he was the MAN defensively. Lee had a great game, and it was great to have Eric back. I think his two 3's were his first in a long time. Spencer was his normal classy self, shooting and playing defense. Gordon came out fired up and held us in the first half. CJ Neumann doesn't get enough credit. He banged with the big guys all night and was really tough. He has been very valuable over the past 10 or so games. The local folks who turned out got their money's worth. I think a bunch of folks are becoming Terrier fans. It was great fun for a good price.

I'm still kind of shaken by just how great of a game all around that was to be honest

Eric played 35 minutes and looked a lot more like himself today. Hopefully that means he's about back to 100%. Derrick Brooks played the other 5 minutes at point. I'm guessing and also hoping that the fact that John Swinton didn't play at all was strictly a coach's decision and not due to some sort of injury.
