74-49 Dogs. Several of our guys played very well. Collins continues to get more confident and active with the ball. Swinton is smooth and super steady.

Croone is a very nice player for the Furples.

That's three straight wins of 20 or more points over the Furples. That makes me happy.
Thom Henson sent out an email recently that we should take over their Arena on Feb 28. I say we make it happen!

Great job to take care of business against the Purple Pukes just like we should have. Very nice to see Eric Garcia back in there even though he clearly still wasn't 100%. But this was a great game to start working him back into game action because we are really going to need him against ETSU. Cam Jackson and Derrick Brooks are both players that also make me excited for the future. Justin Gordan is becoming a beast, and Cochran was, well, Cochran. Skinner had bit of a subpar game but he'll be back.

When we let our defense set the tone, no one in the Socon can beat us. The first 5 games of the conference slate, we tried to out-score other teams and our luck ran out against the Citadel. The last 2 games it's clear that the emphasis was on playing sound defense as the foundation of our offense, and we won easily both times. It's humble way to play, and it's the best way for us to play

We shot 55%, they 33%; we got 34 rebounds, they 29.

Worth noting how often the Furman O looked completely out of sorts. We did well to fight through screens to ensure we got a hand in the face on perimeter shots. As YT already said, we're not good enough on O to count on always out-scoring the other team and not playing good defense but when we play our style of elite defense, it feeds our offense and propels us towards our goal of a SoCon championship. Don't think it's been mentioned here yet but Mercer fell on the road to WCU so we're back atop the standings with UTC. I'm sure MY will keep us focused on the next game always being the most important game. Go Terriers!

Another thing I noticed early is that the first few possessions Furman didn't try a lot inside against us, deferring to perimeter shooting. It worked for like 2 minutes (they were up 7-2 at one point, believe it or not) but we just played better than they did.

If we can get Garcia back and healthy, and Skinner back to the level he was last year (or at least back to that level of consistency) it's going to be very hard for teams to beat us. The game of Gordon has stepped up tremendously. Same with Neumann. Losing Lee is going to be big in terms of leadership, but in terms of overall ability you have to be impressed with the depth we have there. We're probably as deep there as we were in the days of Dahlmann.

Just arrived back home from the trip down to the game. We absolutely hammered them inside. Our guys did what they wanted setting great screens and cutting to the basket, and played great defense for probably 30 of the 40 minutes of the game. We held another pretty good scoring team under 50, and won all the hustle stats. I would only be reiterating what has been said by others to go on more about the defense. This team wins when it plays defense and wins the hustle stats. Furman and WCU know what happened the last two games. Now it is time to show ETSU.
One thing that is very interesting is that our whole team got good playing minutes. No one played more than 28 minutes, and the two freshmen got 16 and 17. Both Brooks and Jackson are going to be BIG in the future. No one will ever replace Karl Cochran, but Brooks will be a big time penetrator and scorer at the basket. Cameron Jackson will be whatever he wants to be. Justin Gordon shows flashes of erratic brilliance. He can make moves and then get up where the air gets thin. He just needs to finish when he does it. He alters shots in the paint, and adds to the defense Skinner and the others provide. Lee Skinner had a very good game in every way except scoring. He played good defense and did all the little things to help the team win. The seniors on this team do anything and everything to help the team win, and sometimes it doesn't show up in the stats.

Nice video and box. Karl played very well, especially on D. Jaylen Allen really showed up. Eric working his way back into things. Cameron Jackson did some great things. CJ playing with obvious confidence. Gordon, uh-huh. Skinner, fire in the belly. Collins playing better each game. Brooks improving. Swinton smooth. Hope Wagenlander is not hurt. There is great synergy. Mike Young having a ball. Well done, little doggies. http://woffordterriers.com/news/2015/1/ ... ath=mbball

25 point thumping of the barnies, Mercer loses by 12 to WCU, and Terriers back on top of the league (with Chatty)....a good night indeed

Caveat: we must avoid going to their place with the attitude we will have an easy win. The Furples have some talent and have played much better than that this year, and certainly will at home. As many have said, this team can take no wins for granted ... we must always play our game, with high energy and smarts.

A salute to Spencer Collins: he seemed to start this season a little slow and at times got lost in Cochran scoring machine but he does a lot of things really well on the defensive end. And when teams focus so hard on KC, he steps it up and hits big shots and gets to the rim offensively. He scores in double figures most of the time but he is a big cog in our team on both ends. Very consistent player.
