Hard to understand how the RPI is so out of line. The BPI rating just dipped under 100 after the win at Chatty. which seems about right. We're a good mid-major. No need to get a big head. Our guys need to learn to start fast and finish.

No need to get a big head is right. National recognition is nice but the team needs to focus solely on the next SOCON opponent. Bottom line is if we don't win the SOCON tourney we don't make it to the dance. Focus on the next team up and improve each day.

There definitely is room for improvement as evidenced by our horrific start Monday night. The coaches have been talking about it all season: we still have things we need to improve on and get better at. We are by no means a finished product.
The Iona game was probably our most complete game (maybe NC St.). We have played more "incomplete" games than "complete."
And that may be the most exciting thing: this team has more pedal under its foot to tap into.

John Swinton ought to stay with the media thing also. He does well on the radio and TV. In addition, I would love to see some of our guys go on to refereeing basketball. The game needs intelligent young men to get into the refereeing side, and to get into it right out of college is very smart. In not too many years there will be plenty of money keep guys well paid full time. A number of guys do both football and basketball and have lots of time for themselves in the spring and summer. IMO the conferences should be recruiting new refs while the players are in school. We complain about the refs, but there needs to be active programs to recruit and train them.
