Our noon game will be the two undefeated teams playing each other. SHS beat Fairfield by 14 in the later game yesterday. From the scores it should be a fairly well matched game.

26-19 at the break. We're shooting 50% from the field but the officials are a bit whistle-happy (9 of Sam Houston St.'s 19 points have come off of FTs). Tighten up the D without fouling in the 2nd half and we should be sitting pretty.

Not sure who referenced it earlier, but the radio ad for the SoCon Tournament in Asheville is about as bush league as it gets. That stuff belongs to some low level rasslin' at a local high school gym!

Terriers keeping their cool down the stretch. Skinner has earned two offensive fouls and Cochran just hit a big three despite not completely feeling it today offensively. Terriers up 58-49 with 2:09 to play.

Lots of whistles in this one. Can't wait to hear WoCo NH Dude's report on the game

Final score 64-53. SHSU 1-24 for three point range...wow. Balanced scoring attack- four guys in double figures.

Another good win against a pretty good team. We have played and beaten four solid teams in a row. These were not the early season patsies that teams are sometimes required to play. Each of these teams will have its share of quality wins over the season. We had very balanced scoring today, and played a nine man rotation that seems to be getting better. Now for the patsie!

These things have impressed me about this team, so far, and I have seen every game, except today's game--Had to go to the Texan game today--

Patience in running our offense---The players are very cohesive and poised--
Rebounding, particularly offensive rebounds and second chance points---
Defense has been outstanding--These guys love playing great team defense and communicating with each other

We don't have great size, but we work very hard on the boards, and are out rebounding the opposition, and getting off rebounds--That seems to be all about mind set and effort--We have some great teams coming up--West Va, NC State, and Duke. That will be interesting to see how we compete at that level of competition--I think we played well against Stanford, until the last 2 minutes of the first half and the 1st 5 minutes of the 2nd half--Duke has talent that is not found anywhere except Kentucky and the NBA--All of these games will stand us in good stead as we enter the SoCon competition after the firs of the year--

Basketball is a funny game. Sam Houston shoots 31 % from the field, 91% (20-22) from the FT line. http://woffordterriers.com/news/2014/11 ... 42927.aspx

Very nice afternoon and win!

Spoke with Mark Hauser before the game. Enjoyed his recap of the prior 2 games in the tourney; plus, we briefly chatted about the football team's season and the 2015 campaign. As many have said before, we are fortunate to have him and Thom as football and basketball announcers.

Very sparse crowd; counted 6 in Wofford regalia at the Arena. Sat behind our bench with a fellow alum/friend who now resides and works near Bridgeport. Met Matt Allen, former player and Terriers coach, who is now coaching 1 of the State University of New York (Div. 3) programs.

Observations and highlights:

* Arrived during early warm-up/shoot around to take pics. Immediately noticed an enthusiastic, talkative, intense squad who was hustling.
* Some of the defensive drills - double teams, called screens/switching, etc. were simply nasty. I would not want to be the opponent's point guard.
* Our defense is FOR REAL; everyone got after it.
* The bench is very deep (not quite like the All-America platoon system U of KY deploys; but, almost.)
* Offensively, we played patiently and looked for good shots. Only recall 1 bad instance = time clock violation where we forced a 3-pointer.
* Justin Gordon had a tomahawk dunk which surpasses the 2 handed, windmill in the Iona game. Where is ESPN when we need them?
* We were able to hear (very clearly) the coaches tips and players' cheers all game. Coach Young pointed to a missed assignment for our freshman big. When the play was repeated, our big did a nice flash pivot, which led to a Skinner layup. MY jumped, smiled and raised his fist. "Way to go big fella!"
* Cochran is silky smooth...never flustered; though, SH State tried different ways to get him off his game.
* SH State had a couple forwards and center who fouled with an edge; again, we did not flinch. CJ was masterful taking several key charges; as did Gordon, Collins and Skinner.
* Garcia's ball handling is akin to Brad L. Eric is stout. Collins is cool under pressure.

I could go on and on; but, time to move on and focus on Ohio W. Very anxious to see how our new honorary coach will do on Tuesday. =D> =D>

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Thanks for an interesting and exciting review, WCNHD.

Now, would love to see us beat William and Mary at their place. They are pretty good this year.

Happy Thanksgiving too.

Cochran POW. Talk about versatility. Plus he is our best defender. http://woffordterriers.com/news/2014/11 ... ath=mbball
