2014/15 Schedule

Any word on next season schedule? MY will probably play a tough out of conference schedule, given a veteran team.

Not too tough, though. Don't want to lose confidence. I heard rumors of us playing Duke. I would not like that. We can, however, do without the Emory & Henrys of the world. I know we play Charleston Southern at home...they owe us a return trip for a previous Bracket Buster.

If you don't have any big plans yet for New Year's Eve at 2 on national TV at Cameron....you might want to make plans!!!

If I were doing the schedule, I would schedule mostly other mid majors and money games with average to below average big name conference teams that we could stay close with and have a chance to beat. My schedule would have the likes of Virginia Tech, South Carolina, Penn State, Atlantic Sun, Big South, OVC, CAA, and Patroit and Ivy League Schools. Maybe throw a MAC team in there as well. No unwinnable games like Duke, Michigan State, North Carolina, etc. and no non D1 opponents. That is just my scheduling angle.

I concur with 94. We seem to schedule the same way with football too. Our near misses against Clemson and USC might be solid wins against teams like Wake Forest or UVA. Just like we beat UGA, USC, & Wake a few years back in basketball, let's schedule some games against lower level BCS-conference opponents and see what we can do. Even our games against Xavier and William & Mary in the past few years have been close and entertaining so it'd be nice to keep scheduling competitive mid-majors like them as well. The Johnson & Wales and Emory & Henry's of the world don't belong on our schedule if we're trying to toughen up for the conference slate and they do nothing to help our RPI for NCAA tourney seeding if we're able to make it that far.

The value of being on National TV on New Year's Eve against the most watched team in college basketball can't be measured. It is worth a fortune to Wofford. In addition, we are playing against the best recruiting class in the country, but they are freshmen with less than a month and a half of playing time. We are a veteran team with very good players. There is a reason that Coach K scheduled Wofford, and it's not all a W. This is probably the final non conference game for Duke before the conference season, so K is expecting it to toughen them up. Our D is known by the major coaches, I will guarantee. The Duke students will be gone, and there will be an opportunity for the Wofford fans to see the game. This is a great game for Wofford to schedule.

Got it from the horse's mouth-it's a deal. Don't know of any other out of conference games, however. Since the game is during the school break there may be a chance at tickets. Working on that angle.

I don't care if it was the worst team we've ever assembled, anytime Wofford gets a chance to play a team like Duke in a place like Cameron, you relish the opportunity and be thankful for it. As it turns out, MY young will be taking a solid team up to Durham. More National Exposure and an opportunity of a lifetime for the players to play against Coach K and the Blue Devils. Excellent way to help recruiting as well. Always wanted to see a game in Cameron.

Next year looks hopeful, but still a very good league (ETSU and VMI will be strong additions, for example; Chatt dangerous).

Have we ever been picked #1 in any preseason ranking before this in any sport?
I hope it doesn't jinx us
