What about the current recruiting class? With the transfers, there should be at least a couple scholarships left. I'd heard some talk about a possible transfer in, maybe? Any news?

All I know is that one of the coaches tweeted this week welcoming freshmen Garcia and Allen on campus.

With a total of 12 on the roster, we must have at least one scholarship available. This would be a perfect time to add a good inside man, if one can be found.

You are correct, lawdog. Without a solid inside game, this team will continue to be inconsistent. It will be hit or miss for each game depending on how well we are shooting from the outside- and we will likely make another early tournament exit. So getting a solid big guy should be of major concern right now.

Ask and ye shall receive: Word from Twitter is ASU forward Kenny Martin (6'9", 220) is transferring out and it is down to us and Grand Canyon U.
Keep your fingers crossed.

ASU, as in Arizona State. Looks like Herb Sendak may be helping us out.

http://www.thesundevils.com/ViewArticle ... M_ID=30300 Looks like he could really help us, immediately. Very active inside. This would be nice. Apparently he was out with a health issue part of his freshman year, and perhaps senior year in high school.

Thanks for the updates guys. Interesting and exciting too about the big guy. I will keep my fingers crossed. And it seems like we would have the edge against Grand Canyon. I have never heard of them until now.

The guy has some cool hair. Sounds like a player who could really help Wofford. I hope it works out.

Too bad. Frustrating.

With Wofford recent successes in basketball, I cannot understand why it's not gotten easier to recruit talented players. Not that the cupboard is bare by any means.....but not being able to get a quality post player when there's playing time available and scholarships (to a great college, by the way) on the table is strange to me.

In this case, I suppose if a guy goes from a D1 to a D2 school he won't have to sit out a year. Maybe that was a factor.

It has been announced that Martin is going to U. of Arkansas, Fort Smith, a D II school. I think a prior association with a coach there was determinative.

Indications are that we are pretty active and have a number of offers out for 2014. Also, no doubt we are still looking hard for another inside player for this season, and may yet get one. We should be respectable without another one, but getting one would be a big help, especially if he can come in and play without sitting out.

With many good and experienced players coming back in 2014 and only its big man graduating, Wofford College basketball will offer a tremendous opportunity for a big man or two to come in and play immediately on a team that will be good next year and have a lot of promise for the future.
