Johnson misses both, and UGA hits a three at the buzzer to win by 1.

What a heartbreaker. I hope our kids can get over this. What a long busride back from Athens it's going to be. Just pure bad luck. If only Tim Johnson were a better Free throw shooter.

Also, it was a uncharacteristically poor shooting game for Junior. He had 20 points, but was only like 6 for 20 from the floor. If he had hit a couple of more shot, the outcome might have been different. Georgia didn't really beat us...we just didn't play quite well enough to win.

What a tough loss! We had that game at the end. Ga did'nt win, we lost---Any combination of a stop during the game, or a made free throw, or an extra basket would have won the game for us---The team knows how close we were--I hope they bounce back from this, and I expect they will---If we can play with the same kind of intensity and execution in the conference, we should do well---If we did'ny have bad luck, then we would'ny have any luck at all---I hope the luck factor evens out this year---

So will Wofford be over .500 in the SOCON?

A game like this can help or hurt. Well, it obviously hurts to lose a game like this.

But I hope it helps the confidence of the guys. They took an SEC team to overtime, did enough to win, really. I hope it's a confidence boost. But if they're depressed about it, or if they dwell on the things that went wrong, it can go the other way.

What I like, though, is that we've shown some toughness, some competitiveness. And Tim Johnson.....the missed free throws are a shame, but he really took the game over for a stretch in the first half. He can play.

History says no...but we can always hold out hope that this year will be different. But this team is quite young...many key players are freshmen and sophomores. We will erturn just about every key player next season. 2009-10 is truly a season to expect a good conference record in...if we cannot break .500 then, well, maybe it's time to really take a hard look at this coaching staff.

Remember we have 12 schollies.......only 1 shy of the maximum allowed by the NCAA. It is truly the most underperforming team on campus per schollie allotment with over 92% of max schollies allowed. Football doesn't even have as many. I know the recruiting budget is still very low, but.....
I am pulling very hard for coach Young and the team. They deserve some success.

Are you referring to men's teams only? I can think of several underperforming women's teams that are, I believe, fully funded. Regardless, I agree with your post. I wish the best for the team and Coach Young.

I will agree with that timetable (it could be considered nothing if not generous). But, if Wofford still can't break the .500 mark, would anything really be done? I really hope we're over 20 wins and competing for a trip to the Big Dance, but if not, it will be time to face certain facts no matter how downright unpleasant.

UGA might very well be the worst SEC team this year. However, Texas A&M Corpus Christi has been in the NCAA s the past couple of seasons I think...they are a solid mid-major program.
